You’re in an executive position and have to give a speech. What’s the worst mistake you could make?
Too many times, we focus on what we want to say, not what the audience wants or needs to hear. Its always worth stepping back and asking 'why would anyone want to listen to this? What would they take away from it and will it help them do their jobs better or differently?'. So many speaking engagements are more about filling the programme than delivering value for the audience!

You’re in an executive position and have to give a speech. What’s the worst mistake you could make?
I think its worth considering 'should this be me doing this speech, or is there someone better qualified who has fewer speaking opportunities who could do it in my place?'. A leader casts a long shadow, and sometimes the best thing you can to is step aside and let someone else take the spotlight - particularly if they're from a background where they may have had to fight harder than you to get a voice.
