🔍 As the health service now strives to move beyond the “foothills” of technology enabled transformation that Lord Darzi describes, it could enhance digital capabilities at-scale to deliver this measure. 🔍 Lord Darzi points out in his report that despite many examples of impactful technologies, too many remain subscale. Bold choice. Headline: “Chief Innovation Officer, Co-founder at Soar Beyond Ltd.” – Chief Innovation Officer? Wow, do you also have a cape and a secret lair? I bet your business cards are printed on superhero capes. Summary: “Innovator of solutions to meet NHS needs – SMART Platform and i2i Network.” – Innovator, huh? So, you’re the one who thought, “What if we made things… better?” Truly a visionary. Next, you’ll be telling us you invented sliced bread. Experience: Current Role: “Leading on educational and platform programmes with pharma.” – Translation: You’re the teacher’s pet who always has the best PowerPoint slides. Do you also hand out gold stars and stickers? Or maybe you just hypnotized them with your “exceptional” skills. Education: “Graduated with a Masters degree in Medical Law" – Ah yes, the prestigious University of Cardiff, known for producing graduates who excel at filling out LinkedIn profiles with vague yet impressive-sounding accomplishments. Accomplishments: “Successfully project-managed the first national programme for IT implementation into the ambulance service.” – So, you’re the reason ambulances now have Wi-Fi? Bravo, Tiba. Bravo. Next up, installing Netflix in hospital waiting rooms? “Named one of LDC’s ‘Ones to Watch’ and featured in The Times.” – Oh, look at you, making it onto the LDC “Ones to Watch” list and getting a mention in The Times! I guess all those late nights of pretending to work while actually watching cat videos on YouTube finally paid off. What’s next, Tiba? World domination? The Innovative Licensing and Access Pathway (ILAP) was introduced in the UK in 2021 to accelerate patient access to transformative medicines, with 166 “innovation passports” awarded to date. ILAP has an upcoming relaunch in March 2025, which will address feedback regarding its overly permissive entry criteria and the lack of NHS involvement. Key updates will include: •More selective entry criteria to focus on transformative medicines. •Inclusion of drug-device combinations. •Enhanced NHS involvement, with NHS as core partner focusing on operational planning. •Simplified Target Development Profile (TDP) for clearer guidance. Additionally, the MHRA will continue to provide crucial regulatory support, ensuring that the pathway remains robust and efficient. An unprecedented seismic shift in the political landscape of the UK may occur in tomorrow’s general election, if a slew of recent opinion polls is correct. What will a new government mean for the National Health Service (NHS), which has been struggling to meet demand in recent years? What are the implications for the prescription drug market in particular? And how does the pharmaceutical industry perceive the UK market and regard the next government and its key policies?   I’ll address these questions in conversation with Ian Chamberlain in my latest webinar on UK market access for the Life Science Access Academy. Given its importance, the general election and its implications for pharma will be the focus of the discussion, but I’ll also touch on some other significant developments in recent months, including what has been happening with the Innovative Medicines Fund and how NICE is evolving as it marks its 25th anniversary. Research highlighting the importance of knowing, understanding and leveraging customer’s Channel Preferences to personalise engagements. Knowing how to approach customers in their preferred channels and in their STYLE enables access. It makes the difference between an email read and actioned, or one simply deleted.
