I'd love to share some thoughts on what makes a submission stand out: 🚀 Be Bold - take some risks with a couple of 'out there' tactics in your overall campaign; you'd be surprised how effective an out-of-the-box approach can be to fuel success. These are the elements that separate the submissions in the awards process too, especially if two entries are scoring very closely to each other. To inspire these ideas, I love to use the brainstorming technique "Get Fired/Get Hired' 🎯 Be Succinct - Clearly highlighting 'the problem to solve', explaining your strategy and sharing the creative executions helps the judges to understand 'the why' and 'the how' of your approach to help us assess these elements against the criteria ⚖️ Be Measurable - Sometimes really strong contenders fail to offer tangible metrics on success, meaning a front runner suddenly drops to the back - ensure to include at least 2-3 ways to prove your work moved the needle 💰➡️💰💰💰 Invest! Brands that ‘backed themselves’ with investment in strategy, creative and media generated engagement and most importantly, sales (you can’t sell a secret!) And finally: 🏃‍♂️ Enter! You have to be in it to win it; some categories didn't have a lot of entries. Consultation with health IT vendors - shaping Australia's Health Information Exchange As the steward for digital enablement of Australia’s health system, the Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) plays a pivotal role in coordinating national engagement, delivery, and adoption of digital health initiatives. Our mission is to enable person-centred, connected healthcare across the nation. Our aim is to transform the national infrastructure into a modern, data-rich ecosystem that seamlessly connects systems and provides real-time access to information for patients and care teams anytime, anywhere. A key component of this transformation is the development of the Health Information Exchange (HIE). The HIE will play a central role in facilitating person-centred, connected healthcare across the country by ensuring seamless information flow between various healthcare settings.    The HIE will deliver a set of national capabilities using a consistent approach, based on agreed standards, to facilitate the sharing of health information across existing systems such as My Health Record and other data sources. It will evolve and deliver new functions over time to meet the continuous changing needs of clinicians and consumers. We want to hear your views to ensure the HIE is fit for purpose and able to meet the needs of all Australians. As the peak body for childhood cancer in Australia, ANZCHOG welcomes the recommendations published in the Health Technology Assessment Report, 'Accelerating Access to the Best Medicines for Australians Now and into the Future'. The recommendations specific to paediatric patients are intended to improve access to medicines listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and facilitate regulatory approval and reimbursement of medicines for paediatric conditions. It is well known that it is difficult to source the clinical data needed for regulatory approval for children, which in turn slows down the approval process. If adopted, these recommendations will allow more opportunities for broader community representation to provide input for which therapies registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) should be extended for use in paediatric populations. #healthequity Diabetes Australia Health Services Daily Australia’s diabetes epidemic is one of the largest and most complex health challenges we are facing as a nation. More than 1.4 million (more than one in 20) Australians are living with diabetes. In the 12 months to March 2024, 115,000 people were newly registered with diabetes according to the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) – equivalent to 315 people newly registered every day. Diabetes Australia estimates there are an additional 500,000 Australians currently living with undiagnosed type 2 diabetes. That means that every day, the equivalent of a commercial planeload of people joins the growing number of Australians who

On regulating #AI in #healthcare, Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care (DHAC)'s Lesley-Anne Farmer said: "This is not a pure tech-focused consultation," adding that it is important to consider the actual healthcare setting, especially in terms of affected user groups and healthcare service delivery.🩺 DHAC will consider a combination of different regulatory tools, including non-regulatory changes like capacity building and public education efforts, to both govern and support AI implementation in healthcare. The Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) today announced the release of a Request for Information (RFI) seeking industry insights to redefine Application Support and Maintenance (ASM) for Australia's digital health infrastructure, including the My Health Record system.  CEO Amanda Cattermole PSM, emphasised the importance of this initiative, stating, "As stewards of digital health in Australia, we are dedicated to building and sustaining national infrastructure that supports the secure, reliable, accessible sharing of health information for all Australians and healthcare providers, now and for the future.”   The Agency seeks industry experts from all types of organisations, including small to medium enterprises, to provide their valuable insights on how best to deliver the support, maintenance and enhancement of My Health Record and other applications. Input from the RFI will inform the Agency's planned market approach in 2025 to procure future ASM services. A virtual industry briefing will be held on 12 November 2024 to provide stakeholders with key details related to the RFI. Attendees are requested to register in advance to participate. Digital health technologies tackling some of Australia’s biggest health challenges are set to share a total funding injection of $3.25M from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) 👏 The five companies are part of ANDHealth+, Australia's leading digital and connected health accelerator program. Since starting the program in August last year, they have received support from local and international advisors, experts and investors to strengthen their businesses, plus preliminary funding for key Stage 1 projects. The Stage 2 funding will help startups Eugene, Atmo Biosciences, Immunosis, Metabolic Health Solutions and Humanetix conduct further studies and scale their businesses to solve health challenges across genomics and genetic testing, gut and metabolic health, immune deficiencies and improving clinical efficiencies. Health Consumers Queensland (HCQ) is proud to be part of an initiative launched today which calls on the Australian Government to address the urgent need for greater funding in preventative health. HCQ has joined forces with Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHF) Health Forum of Australia and 16 other consumer health organisations from around the country to form the Coalition for Preventative Health Funding, launched today at Parliament House in Canberra. Speaking at the launch and representing the interests of health consumers across Queensland, HCQ CEO Keith Tracey-Patte said, “Investing in upstream prevention leads to better health outcomes and better quality of life for our communities. “My colleagues and I in the consumer health peak bodies also know that the best chance for investment in preventative health to be effective is when the voices and experiences of community are front and centre, and that the projects and programs are based on pragmatic, real-world solutions. “By putting consumers of health services and their carers at the centre of design, delivery and evaluation of prevention programs, there is ownership by local communities, and by users of health and community services. They know what they need. The effects will be lasting,” he said. The newly formed coalition is calling on the government to make good on its pledge to ‘eventually’ spend 5% of the health Budget on preventative health, as there remains a lack of sufficient funding to help Australians keep themselves well. Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHF) CEO, Dr Elizabeth Deveny said, “While many politicians express agreement during our discussions in Parliament, this support rarely translates into substantial investment in community-based preventative health measures on Budget night.” Preventive health approaches not only enhance the overall health of communities but also reduce non-urgent medical visits. Prevention empowers consumers with the knowledge and tools to make informed health decisions. These preventative strategies can be transformative for some - changing their lifelong health needs. “If the government adequately funded preventive measures, we could ensure the right tools and resources are activated in our communities at the right time and in the right way,” Dr Deveny said. “Communities should also have a say in where and how these preventative investments are spent,” she said. The coalition member organisations have jointly agreed to ask the Australian Government to: ·      Commit to 5% of the health Budget being spent on health prevention  ·      Engage the Coalition for Preventative Health Funding in a co- design/advisory capacity about how the funding should be spent ·      Ensure the 5% funding flows through to coalition member organisations to do prevention work with their communities, and ·      Fund a Secretariat component to help administer the Coalition.

Great to see innovative models of care being adopted in rural and remote communities to improve equity and outcomes. Australia is not suited to a one size fits all model in healthcare . Health Services Daily #healthequity #healthreform Five projects to increase access to primary care in the regions were trialled. Four succeeded, as another $8m is on offer for more pilot programs. Five innovative models of multidisciplinary primary care piloted in NSW have reported back their findings to the Department of Health and Aged Care as the NHMRC offers up another $8 million for the next round of trials. The five proof-of-concept pilots represented the first round of the DoHAC’s IMOC program, worth $3.6 million over four years from 2021. All but one have proven to be viable and for the most part sustainable.

It’s really obvious that to improve health outcomes in the population means investing in helping people stay well; that is additionally challenging for those with socioeconomic complexity. Our health funding constructs are not set up to incentivise prioritisation of maintaining wellness in community. Not an easy problem to fix but one worth collective investment across state, federal, non-profits and private’s to invest time to un-pick the complexity and simplify funding to promote wellness.
