How will electronification and automation revolutionise your FX trading strategy?   The FX market is experiencing a dramatic shift, with a clear trend towards the adoption of FX futures. This shift is accompanied by a growing demand for greater electronification and automation of bilateral trading models.   Our latest TradeTech FX report, conducted alongside Eurex, reveals market participants are increasingly seeking automated solutions for block trades and EFPs to streamline operations and mitigate risks associated with manual interventions.   We explored this area in chapter 3 of the report. Some of the key findings include   🔴 Integration of FX futures into OTC FX EMS: Buy-side firms overwhelmingly prefer a unified EMS capable of managing both FX futures and OTC transactions. 🔴 Preference for block trades and EFPs: Respondents expressed a strong preference for direct trading models with FX dealers leveraging block trades and EFPs to access OTC FX liquidity while maintaining bilateral relationships. Some positives emerging after a very lengthy push by the Investment Trust sector: Reforms to Financial Services retail-disclosure requirements The Government and FCA announce plans to reform UK retail disclosure rules, and will temporarily exempt investment trusts from assimilated EU law requirements. "In response to the feedback from the sector, the Government will lay legislation to exempt listed investment trusts from the current PRIIPs Regulation, as well as make other necessary amendments to other EU-assimilated law. This approach is intended as an interim measure, and investment trusts will be included within the scope of the future UK retail disclosure framework. The proposed new CCI regime is intended to better cater for a variety of products and investment vehicles, including investment trusts, while still ensuring consumers receive appropriate information to allow them to make meaningful choices between investment opportunities about composite consumer investments." Barclays UK has issued two tranches of AUD 500 million subordinated bonds, including a fixed-to-floating rate bond offering a 6.158% annualized coupon for 5.5 years and a floating rate bond with a coupon of 3-month BBSW + 2.00%. Both bonds achieved significant oversubscription—AUD 2.95 billion and AUD 2.9 billion, respectively—resulting in scale-backs to 17%. Backed by a CET1 ratio of 13.8%, Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) of 170.1%, and Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) of 135.6%, Barclays underscores its strong risk management and funding stability. 🚨 UK to tokenise government bonds 🚨 The UK’s Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, will announce this evening a package of reforms for the financial services in her first Mansion House speech. 💷 Digital Gilt Instrument 💷 Among other reforms, the Chancellor’s speech will include an announcement of the government’s launch of a pilot to deliver a Digital Gilt Instrument, using distributed ledger technology (DLT), demonstrating the government’s commitment to innovation in the financial services sector. 🤔 What does this mean? While the details have not yet been set out publicly, this is an important step in the move to modernise the UK’s capital markets.  The UK would be signalling a wider move to tokenised securities, as well as making trading more efficient, transparent and accessible.  More detail to come in further posts. 💷 A Digital Gilt Roadmap 💷 In addition to the Chancellor’s speech, UK Finance, in conjunction with EY, have today published a ‘Digital Gilt Roadmap’.  This sets out the building blocks to support the issuance of a UK digital gilt, as well as two proposed approaches, and a future outlook. 🔴 Update: Digital Gilt to be called DIGIT.
