With Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) accounting for approximately 71% of all deaths worldwide, it's clear that urgent action is needed [source: World Health Organization]. As a member of the eHealth Africa Board of Directors, I am immensely proud of our ongoing FREE medical outreach initiative, in collaboration with EHA Clinics, which aims to combat NCDs in underserved communities in Nigeria. Since kick-off, we have witnessed firsthand the impact of our efforts, with over 400 patients screened and close to 300 enrolled for treatment and management of Hypertension and Diabetes. The results of this initiative bring joy to my heart, knowing that we are making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals affected by NCDs. However, there is still much work to be done. Why I switched from WHOOP to ŌURA 👀 After starting my journey with WHOOP during half-marathon training a few years ago, I recently made the switch to ŌURA! There were a few things that influenced my decision. It all began as a focus on training optimisation, which naturally evolved into an interest in overall wellbeing with a focus on sleep and recovery 💗 I remember the first time my sleep data had come through! It was such an exciting moment; for the first time I got to see how different habits impacted my recovery. I always felt like I dreamt a lot, with some mornings feeling exhausted from what felt like hours of dream adventures. It was exciting to see that on average I get 2.5h of REM sleep per night 💤 So my main reasons for switching: 1. I needed more balance: WHOOP is excellent for performance optimisation, but I realized I wanted a tracker more focused on general wellness rather than athletic performance. My competitive nature needed something a little less…. Competitive 😅 2. Female Health Insights: Oura's cycle tracking and female health metrics are an area I haven’t payed much attention to, but have become increasingly interested in since working in the wellness industry ✨ 3. Design: The Oura ring looks and feels like a piece of jewellery - enough said 🤭 I’ve been wearing my Oura for about 2 months now and I absolutely love it!
