Ever wondered whether you need to bring in a new employee or a self-employed contractor to work on your exciting new project? It’s a big question for any business, and both have pros and cons, but the best solution depends on many factors. To make things simpler, we’re going to break it all down here! #OurBobsJobs #OurBobsBlogs

Great day so far at HR Technologies UK with some really insightful presentations. Will be taking away Neil Pickering's nugget on asking employees 'who' they are, not 'how' they are in order to deliver a personalised employee experience. Stuart Martin and Phil Gillingham and Clare Holley's discussion on how tech and AI can accelerate business (and HR) performance for advancement, not a cost saving exercise, was refreshing and validating. And Jennifer Irwin's talk on the neuroscience behind breaking down barriers for change was so engaging, and provided the revelation that we actually have 5 brains 🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠! #hrtechnologies #learningtechnologies #development #transformation #employeeexperience #genai

Starting a recruitment agency is an exciting challenge, but understanding the impact of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) on your business is crucial. Our latest blog breaks down what CIS means for new recruitment startups, how it affects your operations, and what steps you need to take to stay compliant. Many overlook this aspect, but it can significantly affect your business’s financial management. Check out the full article below: https://lnkd.in/e8ndzdxR #RecruitmentAgency #CIS #StartupFinance

I wanted to clear the air and dispel some of the less informed speculation about the forthcoming umbrella regulations. At Freelancer & Contractor Services Association (FCSA) we're happy to see regulations proposed (at long last) and we're as keen as HMG to weed out the tax-dodgers and scam artists whose ultimate prey is the worker. We'll be working with government to make sure the legislation recognises a fully-formed, mature and compliant market, in which the best umbrellas, such as FCSA Members, continue to play a vital role. #Umbrellas #Compliance #Contractors

Why industry, sector and job function/purpose experience and insights matter. As recruiters and service provides - it’s all well and good banging on about market positioning, sweetspots, specialisation and ‘expertise’ - with out the ‘who’ (seen it, done - got the T-shirt) - it’s almost impossible to understand the nuance and context. Proven, frontline sales professionals know the job/purpose intimately - equally, they have a solid sense of what a great sales/client stakeholder looks like. Similarly, the day to day brutal realities of supply chain, project mgt, contract mgt and delivery in critical infrastructure is something that only years can inform. Hence, part (not all!) of our talent/people strategy is to find, compete for and develop high performance pros from our Built to Last sustainable markets mission. Welcome. You have a formidable, passionate and supportive leadership team - focused on helping you on your journey. Russ M. Stella Redgrave-Nevison James Macbeth Shaun S. Sally Jowett Kelly Busfield CertRP

800 Responses for One Role.... We recently advertised a Project Manager role for a client in Germany, and the response was huge. The quality and suitability of the candidates were exceptional and through our online advert and my post, we received over 800 applications. Given there was only one role, the odds of landing this role were extremely slim due to the sheer volume. Interestingly, if we were to advertise a similar role requiring the candidate to be based in Germany, we'd be fortunate to receive 50 responses. It begs the question. Why is the UK so rich in contractor-focused candidates compared to other European countries? Is it simply that the UK's market is more mature and the "contractor" type position has been operating longer, or is there generally a broader pool of skilled professionals? Whatever the reasons, it highlights a significant contrast in candidate availability and market behaviour across two large parts of Europe.

🎗️WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY🎗️ The construction industry is grappling with a mental health crisis. While construction workers are less than half as likely to report work-related stress, depression, or anxiety, they are four times more likely to take their own lives than the working population as a whole. The Randstad UK Construction and Property team places more than 20,000 people into a wide range of roles within the industry across the UK and Ireland every year. Our partnership with The Lighthouse Charity enables us to raise awareness around mental health in the construction industry. The Lighthouse Charity provides emotional, physical, and financial support to construction workers and their families with a wide range of free resources, including a 24/7 helpline. We must encourage open communication, recognise the signs, provide access to resources, promote work-life balance, and support each other to create a safer environment and help prevent suicide in our industry. Learn more about this initiative by Lighthouse at https://lnkd.in/ety9RYFX If you need help or support now or know someone who does, you can call our 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline on 0345 605 1956 (UK) or 1800 939 122 (ROI) or visit their website at https://lnkd.in/e_JctbVa

💡 How is the sustainability of engineering talent being addressed post-Brexit? In the ever-evolving landscape of post-Brexit Britain, the sustainability of engineering talent has become a pressing issue. With new challenges and opportunities arising, how can companies ensure they have the skilled workforce needed to thrive? First, investing in innovative recruitment practices is essential. One effective strategy is adopting the 5S Recruitment approach. This methodology focuses on sourcing, selecting, and sustaining top engineering talent, ensuring that companies have the right skills to navigate the complexities of today's market. Secondly, companies must focus on continuous professional development. By offering ongoing training and development programs, employers can enhance the skills of their existing workforce, ensuring that they are well-equipped to handle new technologies and methodologies. Lastly, fostering a culture of adaptability and resilience is crucial. Engineers who are flexible and quick to learn new skills are invaluable in a post-Brexit world where regulations and market dynamics are constantly changing. ✅ Invest in innovative recruitment practices ✅ Focus on continuous professional development ✅ Foster a culture of adaptability and resilience What steps has your company taken to ensure the sustainability of its engineering talent post-Brexit? Share your experiences in the comments below or visit www.5srecruitment.com to see how we can support your recruitment needs. #Engineering #TalentSustainability #PostBrexit #5SRecruitment

Do you feel like having too many calls in a day and unable to focus on work? From talks with friends and what's being written on social media, it is quite a problem in today's corporate worker life. 👨💻 At JLA Resourcing Ltd we discuss productivity between us. One of the things we've been recently discussing was how different interruptions affect it during our work days. And how people across the team deal with that. 📅 Meetings are one of those things. You need to keep your calendar in check and make sure you book some time for deep work without interruptions. For me that has been quite an upgrade. People in my team are aware that I have my focus time and I won't be answering during specific times. It also helps when something unpredictable comes up - if the thing is urgent they will deal with it. And in the life of a recruiter unpredictable is a daily thing 😉 On top of that, I switch off notifications and make sure nothing distracts me. The picture below mentions calls but small distractions like notifications on Teams, e-mail, etc. do the same. Are you looking at how different things make you productive or not during the day? What are your ways of dealing with that? Do you have too many calls to deal with on a daily basis?
