SmartView Convenience (SVC) is our retail epos market read of 5,000+/- wholesaler supplied GB independent convenience stores with incredible levels of sku, brand, sub category, category and main department data. (Current data is reporting up to 6th October 2024). EPOS records what gets bought. EPOS cant quantify lost or unfulfilled purchase intentions. It is therefore more than a bit eye opening to learn that 15% of shoppers in an independent convenience store (almost 1-in-6 shoppers) fail to buy an intended item when in the store, latest TWC convenience shopper research reveals. There are a variety of reasons which cause failed purchases (often simple reasons) which we at TWC Group will be exploring in the coming months. While the sector is under pressure (just look at SVC sales data) at least shopper demand is outstripping current retail sales. We (the sector) should work together to optimise ranges and deliver against shoppers' needs in 2025 (a win/win/win/win for shoppers/retailers/wholesalers/suppliers).
