📞 The PSTN switch-off delay will give small businesses and consumers more time to upgrade from copper to fibre. As I mention in the article below, there is a lack of awareness of what the switch-off entails, especially to consumers. The cost of upgrading is also a huge barrier for small businesses. The 2027 deadline should provide more time for companies to factor in the necessary costs and upgrade their systems. #pstn #voip #fibre

Interesting update by the Competition and Markets Authority on the state of the UK's Cloud market. "The UK cloud market is booming, with revenues more than doubling in just three years, but the market is consolidating around Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure." "Microsoft captured about 60-70% of new customers in both 2021 and 2022. AWS, on the other hand, only managed to secure 20-30% of new customers during the same period." This week I had a realisation. I am not the spring chicken my failing eyes have been leading me to believe. In my mind was still 33... Ok 33 and a bit. I don't know if its just me but do you get to a certain point in your life where you actually forget how old you are? You may celebrate birthdays but you no longer make a note or the number itself? Or is it just me? So I worked out my age using the tool we often use to work out lead times for network connections. Turns out I am 12,150 working days old (not counting weekends or bank holidays. 17,424 days old if you count them all up. Having done a little maths that is a little more than 33. I went to the opticians as I knew something didn't feel right and he asked me "do you find yourself holding things at arms length in order to read them" and I was like, "hmm yeah now you mention it. I do". I have had my existing prescription for a couple of years so knew it was time for a review to be fair. He informed me that I am now at that age where I might need a selection of glasses ie readers and distance or ... gulp... BI FOCALS!!!! In my mind, I was thinking of those old school half moon parts of lenses. Not the aesthetic I was hoping for. So we agreed to try a progressive approach instead ie varifocals. So I ordered some new specs which arrived Monday. They take a little getting used to, but wow these are a game changer! You have to adjust your head a little depending what you are looking at but beats switching glasses every few minutes like my dear old Dad does. Everything is now in glorious Ultra HD. Boom! So if you have been doing and holding things out to read then maybe look at vari-focals. I don't know or have affiliations with any opticians so you will need to do your own research. : ) I do however know a lot about business connectivity! So if anyone out there is in the market for new or upgrading dedicated Internet, site to site or multi site connectivity or Cloud / Unified Comms - hit me up! PS what do you think of the frames? #Starlink group data is kicking off today. This reminds me of the early days of mobile in the UK when MNO's would allow resellers to create their own bundles. My understanding is that there are rules around the intent of splitting data. If a reseller is selling to an organisation that has multiple ships but with different data requirements, that the data can be bundled across all the ships to allow for varying usage and antenna counts. Makes sense. However, splitting bundled data between companies may be another matter... Obviously this depends on the interpretation of the individual resellers contract with SpaceX. These will vary.
