To those of you yet to realise the benefits of Insights Discovery… since January I have been working with 19 people managers to create and deliver a personalised journey enabling them to reach their personal and team development goals. This has included obtaining 360 feedback and their insights profile, attending numerous Insights workshops focusing on communication, leadership effectiveness, resilience, management style... the list goes on! As we are now just over halfway through that journey, here are just some of the comments from the group: • We now recognising what we need to dial up/dial down in our colour energies to flex our styles • We have greater acceptance of peer’s strengths, preferences, challenges and how we can support each other • The 360 feedback was really useful and insightful, especially around reputation and behaviours • We have a better understanding of our teams – their colour preferences, strengths and development areas. Offering some Mentoring to a trainee coach today asking about contracting for models they'd like a client to consider working with.. There are of course established models. Established doesn't necessarily mean evidence or experience based, often just what proved to have a minimum learning curve. Do you honestly think the whole essence of Coaching can be encapsulated in a few letters like GROW or SMART? Mine the moment. Buried in your shared presence with the client are the resources for both of you to bring up insight that leads to empowerment. The client nor you exist in isolation but in a shared interventional relationship. Work the relationship and you will find a way to work the real problem so progress is made in realisation of client potential or them attaining goals...as well as the possibility of you advancing your own coach maturity. When using AI in Coaching, established doesn't mean Best Practice or Ethical, Inclusive and Compliance based. Even with AI you have to 'Mine the Moment' and draw on mutual presence and gravitas to do the heavy lifting in the coaching intervention. Organic exchanges will always best seed Digital ones.

𝐒𝐚𝐲, 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲, 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬. Why did I post that? Well, it popped into my mind this morning as I was thinking about project management (as you do). Why, though? Because that was a mnemonic used in the first project management course I ever did 😮 𝐒ay (Scope) 𝐁aby (Benefits) 𝐖ear (WIP, I think) 𝐓hat (Time? Maybe, who knows?) 𝐒exy (Stakeholders) 𝐑ed (Risk) 𝐃ress (Delivery partner benefits I think - we were, after all, a consulting firm. - or just shoehorned in to make the cool acronym work?) Imagine seeing that on a slide now? 🙈 (I was telling Susan about it and felt awkard just saying it out loud) I don't recall it being a big deal then, and perhaps it wasn't, or perhaps the no-one on the course (there were femails both delivering and attending) felt comfortable challenging it? I honestly don't know. I won't mention the company, because I'm 100% certain they wouldn't allow it now, and probably wouldn't then (graduate courses were often designed and delivered from within the grad programme, probably without scrutiny). But things that would just fly in the corporate mainstream, even 20-something years ago, can now appear crude and outlandish. And although outdated and inappropriate attitudes, behaviours and even structures do still exist, it's good to know that things also do actually change. 🌟 Inspired by Jane Vivier: How could we change SBWTSRD to be more 'of our time'?
