Happy global TA Day to all my connections working in talent acquisition! I am quite uniquely outspoken in my advocacy for internal TA, considering a large proportion of my role is reliant on companies engaging external support. I have never understood the completely outdated dynamic of internal TA & external talent partners almost battling against each other. For me, the very best businesses and the very best individuals in both worlds, collaborate effectively and know each others worth. It was part of the reason for me joining FDI, a refreshing approach to working with TA, not against TA, as so many recruitment companies seem to do. I want to take a moment to thank all the amazing TA professionals in my network, you are absolutely pivotal to our industry and at a time where your role has probably never been harder, it’s great that there is a day dedicated to your recognition. There’s a common misconception that internal recruitment must be easy right now. Advert responses are through the roof and there is a misunderstanding that there is more talent on the market than ever before. In reality, while applications are high, TA are having to spend more time than ever sieving through CV’s/resumes and qualifying people that either aren’t relevant or aren’t the right fit for the business. All while budgets are tight, average tenure is down and expectations are high! So, to those on each side of the “fence” let’s have less “butting heads” and more “combining minds”. Keep on making a difference Life Science TA!!

Here at Ocado Group, it’s that time of year where more and more internal job requisitions are opening up to ‘Graduate’ only candidates 🚧 It can be quite a tough time for some, as frequently ALOT of grads are competing for the same role at once, with only one role being made available. Delivering multiples of negative feedback is the norm, and at this time, I regularly over emphasise to the Hiring teams the importance of delivering quality feedback at this early stage in their careers. 🌩 On a personal level, I find delivering negative interview feedback to Grads hard work. 🗡 A dagger to the heart 💔 The pauses on the call are longer, words stutter, candidates are keen to close the call off quickly, (feeling in that moment) embarrassed more than disappointed. Grads.... just REMEMEBER 👇 ☁ Your first opportunity usually comes after multiple failures ☁ Embrace the interview feedback, try not to get emotional about it, and learn from it ☁ Don’t pack out too many interviews across a working week, give yourself meaningful time to prepare ☁ It’s normal not to know what to do with your life. If the interview isn’t what you thought, that's okay, don’t progress with it. Stick to what you want to do! And most importantly, it’s okay if it doesn’t go to plan. Following bleak recruitment performace in June, there has been a resurgence of job creation, adverts being posted, and placements being made in July. TL;DR🚀: - The total volume of placements increased by 34%. - Temporary & contract placements increased by 40%. - Permanent placements increased by 11%. - Revenue per recruiter increased by 49% against a slow June. Everyone is a TA expert these days… For almost two months, I have barely posted on LinkedIn… and there are a few reasons for that… but the main one was starting my new job… (which is ace.. thanks for asking) I’ve still been on the platform … networking etc… but I ran out of stuff to say… and like Dad always said… ‘if you’ve got nothing nice to say, say nothing at all…’ So what did I see and hear on LinkedIn in my absence…? I’m glad you asked… It seems that almost overnight… you can become a recruitment expert! Recruiting (in my experience) is the only job in a company where everyone thinks they can do it better than you… and now… if you’ve been doing it for just a few weeks… you can become ‘LinkedIn famous’…. 🤦🏻 No value add required… no deep experience needed… That’s right folks… all you need is a camera and a vague, meaningless-yet-obvious quote about hiring and you are in! As well as being my favourite artist of all time… Mr Warhol was right with this particular quote… (which I appreciate doesn’t compliment what I just said about quotes… but the irony is beautiful) and maybe Instagram culture is making its way onto LinkedIn? Who knows? But lets up the content game and share our experiences… context… insights… and the valuable stuff… because this TA community is amazing… and recruiters are typically brilliant storytellers! Today marks the start of ‘Mental Health Awareness Week’. Here at The Logistics Partnership LLP we believe that mental health and wellbeing awareness and support should always be high on the agenda. We’re committed to supporting and bringing awareness not only within our own business but also when supporting and advising the clients we partner with across a wide range of industry sectors. This is a subject that really does matter. In terms of our own business, over the last 12-18 months, we’ve implemented a number of initiatives to support mental health and wellbeing. Just some of these include: · The formation of a ‘Mental Health Committee’, which worked closely with the whole business, utilising feedback from all partners and employees, subsequently creating an easily accessible roadmap of information, resources, and support. An inclusive ‘Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy’ for all. · Investment in MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) training for a number of business employees/partners, who now play invaluable roles as ‘Mental Health First Aiders’ in our business. · Worked with our new employee benefits provider to develop an enhanced suite of mental health and wellbeing benefits, including unlimited mental health support for all. · Conducted a review of our working arrangements and implemented shorter working hours across all of our branches. In terms of our valued clients and candidates, we continue to work in partnership with them, providing advice and guidance on this subject, which is particularly relevant in the logistics industry—a sector that is massively fast-paced and often pressure-driven, and therefore particularly exposed to these challenges. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #MentalHealthAdvocate #Employeewellbeing #EndTheStigma

After Amazon recalled employees to the office last month for a 5 day in-office working week, we held a poll to gauge sentiment on the impact policies such as this might make on the UK workforce. The poll overwhelmingly showed that our followers believe that if this policy is more widely employed, we might again experience something like the 'great resignation' that occurred after Covid. Food for thought if you are considering changing the mandate around in-office working patterns or requirements. The appetite for flexibility remains. #RemoteWorking #HybridWorking

My thoughts not just for today have been for over a week. I have taken my career from managing agencies to working for an agency to then returning to managing agencies, I hands down would advise anyone who wants to manage agencies to join a recruitment agency firstly, learn the difficulties and stresses of the job, I guarantee you it will change the way in which you manage them. I have had messages from new agencies that I haven't heard of and also some of the biggest agencies, I chose not to ignore a single message and take the 30 seconds out to reply, when I look back at so many unresponded messages I used to send and think how I felt about them people not replying it left a sour taste, so I told myself when coming back to managing agencies I would stay humble to my core values and always give time to reply. Through this it has allowed me to build on my honesty with people around where I am currently, and plans. Unlike others I have previously met, I also was honest with all agencies even those currently supplying around who had messaged me and what I had told them. This stopped any Chinese whispers and I would hope grew a level of professional trust. Take a moment and ask yourself are you staying true to your core values ✨️ From the above it's got me thinking do I now at the side of my role have the capacity to start my charity journey again and help others 🤔 #corevalues #growth #humble #integrity #honesty
