Volklec, a new UK-based start-up, is set to revolutionise the EV battery landscape. Launched with the goal of powering electrified mobility, Volklec aims to build world-class battery R&D, process and manufacturing capabilities right here in the UK. Partnering with the UKBIC Battery Industrialisation Centre, Volklec is ready to create sustainable batteries tailored for a diverse range of vehicles. This collaboration not only supports the UK’s decarbonisation goals but also promises to generate jobs in Coventry and contribute significantly to the local economy. The article by David Leggett at GlobalData Plc says Imran Khatri, Volklec's Founder, emphasises their commitment to providing a secure supply for the automotive sector and eventually expanding to broader electrification markets. Volvo - The Swedish automaker said it now aims for between 90% and 100% of its car sales to be fully electric or plug-in hybrid models by 2030. The company now says that up to 10% of its sales will represent a limited number of mild hybrid models by that deadline. Crisis-stricken Volkswagen and several other carmakers, including Ford and Mercedes-Benz Group, have all announced plans to delay earlier targets to phase out sales of internal combustion engine vehicles in Europe. Both Europe and the US are slowing their All-Battery Electric car transition, essentially delaying implementation. While Singapore followed their directve as part of Green, Zero Emission and Climate Change initiative, we are on the way to achieve our own targets by 2030, up to 200,000 EV and 60,000 recharging points. Since the western automakers likely cannot produce enough EV as planned, neither will the Japanese; Singaporeans can buy mostly Chinese-made All-Battery Electric cars. Also to mean, our Singaporean Mechanics and Technicians can learn maintenance and surviving from the Chinese. Perhaps, send some of our instructors into China to knowledge-transfer back to Singapore. Hyundai EV might still work in Singapore, giving that alternative to Singaporeans instead of all Chinese-made; let's see if more would want to drive Koreans. For Japanese car drivers like me, unlikely I will switch, can't say about the rest. Surely, some of them might consider going Chinese-made All-Battery Electric cars as the Early EV Adoption Incentive EEAI continues to make cents for buyers. So, Chinese-made wins in Singapore and our Auto Talents will learn SkillsFuture from the Chinese, Singapore will achieve Green Mobility and zero emission, without depending on Europeans and Japanese. Also to mean, an Era is over for those Automakers in Singapore. As we likely see Chinese-made All-Battery Electric Vehicles to dominate our entire Car population. * Talk about Mala 🌶 becoming our favorite dish

Trying to run 2 technologies at the same time is expensive. Up until now the flexible EV/ICE platform has been an effective solution, if expensive. Plugin Hybrids seem to be having a good spell at the moment. As model volumes grow dedicated BEV platforms will start to become more cost competitive. Are autonomous vehicles safe? A big lack of transparency - Let's meet at OSS5 Transparency in Automated Driving has always been one of the most diffifult things. Companies do have problems explaining how to achieve safety, how to show safety to authorities, third parties, society and how to show that correct tests are done in order to show that residual risk is sufficiently low. An usual approach is the definition and testing of scenarios. But how many scenarios have to be tested? This might be an infite number. Especially for the reproducability of scenarios themselves. What are the right KPIs? + And are you sure, that you proof safety for the future when you've only considered the past? One new rare scenario can change everything. See Cruise. In Industries like Aerospace and Defence it is already clear for years, that System Safety Engineering is not only a valuable approach to manage complexity, it is also a valuable approach to explain safety to authorities and is near to completeness. At SEADO we have developed a Systems Safety Engineering Approach, which is not only compliant to Safety Standards such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448, it is also compliant to Systems Engineering Standards such as 15288 and Process Evaluation Models like Automotive SPICE. This approach has led to several valuable discussions on safety within different companies and helped to not only to find the right paths for certification with third parties, understanding with other Non-AD Departments, it helped making safety concepts complete and robust. All in all, made fast and transparent progress in a short amount of time.
