It is a business built on our enduring ability to meet the exacting needs of our clients. I am excited for the management team, led by Oliver, to create their own path for future success, building on the strong foundations of FUTURE Designs. We have always remained at the forefront of innovation in this sector and there is still much to be excited about as we strive to always deliver the best product and outcomes for our valued customers.” Succession planning for the business began five years ago with the creation of the Employee Ownership Trust. This was initiated for the long-term benefit of all employees and the continued legacy of the organisation. Since then, there has been a focused strategy to develop and strengthen the senior management team, alongside a significant investment to increase the expertise and skill sets within the business. Oliver is now responsible for the overall business operations and David will shift his focus to strategic growth in key global markets across Europe and the Middle East, whilst pushing forward with the expansion of the carbon carefulTMinitiative into other market sectors.   Oliver Clements, Managing Director of FUTURE Designs says:   “The foundations for business growth have been set for many years. It’s time to welcome the first speakers of today: Tiger Scott, Gemma Dunnell, Samuel Taylor and Joe Cooper – covering furniture design, art pieces, music and carpentry. Tiger is a furniture designer and maker, specialising in blending traditional craftsmanship and computer aided manufacturing to create detailed and beautiful pieces out of solid wood. Tiger said: “Learning yourself is something you can do. Believe you can keep learning, just need to put the effort in. Asking for help is daunting but people can be accommodating, don’t worry to ask. People have a wealth of info to use for your benefit. Opportunities only come around once, say yes, this can lead to more opportunities.” Gemma is a designer, illustrator, writer, and the founder of The Myconauts magazine. She has worked as a freelancer for clients like Kiehl’s, Bath Christmas Market, and the Allotments Association, whilst selling her own work at art fairs. Gemma said: “ When you go from uni where everyone is doing the same thing, to being in the ‘real world’ as a job or side hustle, it can be a learning curve. Finding a community or collectives can be really useful, as there will be other people out there who do similar things/have experienced similar things. In terms of kickstarting the commercial and sales element, you need to ensure you’re doing something you love and you started doing it because you have a passion for it - the passion inspires and intrigues people, which will draw them to your business.” Samuel Taylor is an Americana musician, banjo player and composer from Suffolk. Working on projects in music for television with an eclectic mix of musicians, Samuel's music, although unique, covers a broad range of genres. Samuel said: “Find your clique of likemind people who support you and have similar goals . Tap into knowledge of others, you don’t know how you’re going to do it until it’s done so use learnings from your network. Voluntary work is a huge part of becoming an entrepreneur, keep your foot in the door and so many opportunities can arise. Bath Spa University is like a cultural greenhouse, they’re enthusiastic and they encourage and support you to pursue what you want to pursue.” Joe’s current practice focuses on sustainable manufacture and material sourcing. Joe runs a small woodwork and fabrication workshop and is currently establishing a small-scale sawmill to supply carbon friendly cabin manufacture. Joe said: “ Learning is a marathon, not a sprint. Taking time, if you can spare it, is important as it can fuel creativity and boost learning. Everyone has their own skill sets and strengths, so you should play to those to succeed. Not saying yes enough or looking hard enough can be a regret, so take those opportunities.”

The choice of natural materials for the interior of the new Clarice Pears Building at the University of Glasgow included extensive use of wood finishes to help promote a sense of naturalness and calm for the School of Health and Wellbeing. The fitted furniture provided by Deanestor included bespoke, full height meeting booths in a maple wood finish with brightly coloured seating according to the zone.   These units, manufactured at our factory in the East Midlands, were provided in different sizes and configurations.   The booths incorporate acoustic treatment with padded upholstery above head height to create a canopy that promotes quiet working in the inclusive study spaces. Each was fitted with power, data and charging facilities. Project Spotlight: A Grade II listed barn conversion in the heart of Essex. Our approach to converting this beautiful barn was centred on celebrating the barn’s rich agricultural heritage. By stripping back the interior, we allowed the original timber framework and architectural details to shine against a clean, white backdrop. This minimalist design accentuates the barn's historic charm and highlights its main features through a striking contrast. Sustainability was a key priority in this project. We thermally upgraded the barn using breathable construction methods, ensuring energy efficiency without compromising the building's structural integrity. Original structural openings were carefully preserved, avoiding unnecessary alterations and maintaining the barn’s historical fabric. In a departure from the common practice of painting Essex barns black, we chose to retain the natural state of the external weatherboard—a respectful nod to the barn’s unique character. Internally, the barn’s agricultural essence is preserved through the use of flexible, moveable furniture and fittings. This approach maintains the open, voluminous space while offering adaptable and functional living areas. By respecting the barn's history and thoughtfully integrating modern amenities, we have created a living space that honours the barn’s legacy while providing the comforts of contemporary life. The latest Glenigan Index reveals some encouraging trends for the UK construction sector, with a 7% increase in project starts over the past three months. Residential construction is leading the way, with a notable 22% rise in starts. Even more promising is the 30% surge in private housing projects. For the fencing market, these figures are a positive sign. A rise in residential and civil engineering starts means greater demand for fencing solutions, especially in private housing where security and aesthetic appeal are key considerations. However, it’s also important to note that non-residential project starts have decreased by 11%. This indicates a need for adaptability and targeted strategies to capture opportunities in the growing sectors while staying mindful of challenges in others. Crystal Doors, now an EOT, from 2026, every member shareholder employee will be funded to joint purchase a home. A good home, wellbeing, family, support. Those who's wealth creation through capital gains portfolio income. Hours working to create value for society = value to society. Wealth from other individuals hours worked, not yours, its societies. Primary school mathematics, 7 year olds would say is unfair. Lots of changes must be implemented over the next 4-5 yrs, to balance what is fair, just and transparent.
