We are supporting #developers to understand the major implications of the CP2030 Report and updates to #Connections #Reform (#TMO4+) released on the 5th November. These updates will have a profound impact on GB Grid Connections and on the UK’s journey to #Net #Zero! Long-awaited details have been shared on the Gate 2 Criteria that projects will have to meet to hold their queue positions as well as NESO’s plans to prioritise the construction of #generation and #storage that aligns with their strategic pathways to Net Zero. Our main takeaways for developers from these updates are: 1) Projects must now align with the #CP2030 Plan in order to connect. This alignment will be primarily based on filling Technology capacity "buckets" available in 17 Zones of the network, illustrated below.  2) Gate 2 compliant projects will be grouped into either pre-2030 or 2031-2035 connection pathways based on their existing queue positions and consents status. 3) Projects that do not meet Gate 2 Criteria will lose their queue position and be issued with a Gate 1 indicative offer. 4) A project’s planning consents status will be a major decider on whether it will be able to connect and when. These changes bring opportunities for the advancement of shovel-ready projects. We are already working with our clients to analyse the impact of these updates on their project portfolios and to identify and mitigate new risks. These updates are still out for #consultation. Could reimagining growth finance enable creative industries to help fuel the Government’s growth mission and help tackle persistent regional inequality? Today, we launch our latest report in our State of the Nations series, this time with a focus on growth finance for creative industries. As the Government launches its Green Paper on a new Industrial Strategy with creative industries highlighted as a priority area for growth the timing couldn’t be more critical. Venture capital finance for creative industries firms is heavily concentrated in London and the South East – with 63% of all investments made in these two regions, compared for example with 11% in the North of England, 5% in the East of England, 6% in the South West, 5% in Scotland, and just 2% in Wales and Northern Ireland. How does capital support creativity?    73% of creative businesses have a desire to grow, but our current financial model makes it difficult for them to do this.    Some of the challenges facing these businesses, as well as possible solutions, were discussed on a panel today following the release of the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre State of the Nations Report.    The underlying message of the report is one we agree with: creativity is core to every aspect of society, and thus creative industries should have access to the investment they need to thrive – as key contributors to our economy.    As Caroline Norbury, OBE, Chief Executive of Creative UK, noted: “Creative industries are primed to drive the future of the UK economy, but we need to unlock their potential….   We’re excited to announce the release of our report The State of Sustainability Communications!    This comprehensive report, based on a survey of 250 industry professionals, is designed to provide UK communications leaders with critical insights for the sustainable transition.    We found four prominent themes for you to prepare for: ▶ Sustainability is a priority but obstacles persist; 95% state the industry requires more skills and knowledge to tackle the transition with 72% acknowledging their own need to upskill. ▶ Communications leaders want to build a business case for sustainability; but 76% finding it challenging to balance sustainability with profitability targets. ▶ Importance of stakeholder engagement is on the rise; 72% believe that the most successful companies will be those actively listening to the voices of citizens and consumers, but only 42% planning to prioritise stakeholder collaboration in the next 5 years.  ▶ Greenwash fears stunt collaboration and progress; 74% express concern about greenwashing and as a result stunting collaboration and dialogue.    The report also highlights the need for upskilling in sustainability communications, enhancing stakeholder interactions, and integrating sustainability into business models to drive growth and mitigate reputational risks.    Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/dQzCzU_q    #Sustainability #Communications #SustainabilityTransition

📢 Non-CO2 Programme Draft Outline Stage now open The new Non-CO2 Programme, delivered in partnership with Department for Business and Trade and Innovate UK, is now open to draft applications. 💡 The Non-CO2 Programme, which sits alongside the ATI’s existing Strategic Programme and SME Programme, is a funding programme for the development of innovative technologies to reduce aircraft non-CO2 emissions and their climate impacts. This is your opportunity to submit a draft application for feedback from the ATI before the programme opens to Outline Stage applications in May 2024. In March 2024 the ATI launched the first of its kind Non-CO2 Technologies Roadmap. This roadmap reflects the UK aerospace sector's collective view of the research actions needed to improve understanding and reduce broader atmospheric emissions from aircraft.
