At the start of #ClothingPovertyAwarenessWeek last week, we did announce our multi-year strategic partnership with Randal Charitable Foundation, but the media frenzy that the week created meant that this amazing partnership didn't get the attention it justifies. That's the danger of awareness weeks isn't it? There's a lot of information to take on board in a short period of time, and new connections come in, but there's no time to pursue them. This is where the hard work begins. This is something that Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL Rachael McCormack and the team at Randal Charitable Foundation totally understand -- that real and lasting change to the system will take years of working together. At a time when The Centre for Social Justice report "Underfunded and Overlooked" shows that 85% of funding goes to just 4% of charities, leaving grassroots charities keeping the nation on its feet on a shoestring budget, there's never been a more crucial time for partnerships like this one; and all at Sharewear Clothing Scheme are both appreciative and excited to be working together. The numbers speak for themselves. We have provided free clothing choices to over 100,000 people over the past 10 years and there are tens of thousands more people in the East Midlands and beyond who need our help. With the Randal Foundation’s support, we aim to grow both our community Sharewear franchise network, and the number of businesses subscribing to our ReLived clothing collection environmental, social, governance (ESG) scheme. By helping us to grow both these networks simultaneously, we know we can keep even more good quality clothes out of landfill, to be chosen by people who can't afford the cost of clothing, enabling them to create truly significant change in their lives. Read the full story below and contact me for more information on both our schemes.

What more can we do to support the voluntary sector? The question we ask daily at Volunteero Yesterday we hosted and funded yet another informal networking drinks for volunteer managers and fundraising managers across the sector. It was a super event executed seamlessly by 💜Mushka Cohen-Gluck and I think appreciated by all who came along. It was wonderful to partner with the fantastic Dotdigital on our first joint-hosted event. John McBriarty, Jamie Cullen The primary way we are achieving our mission of boosting volunteering is of course through our volunteer management platform and volunteer app (#2 volunteering app on the App and Play Store) But here are other ways we are supporting the sector. Knowledge Centre - We publish blogs and articles weekly to our free knowledge centre tackling all hot topics in volunteer management. Free resources - We produce free downloadable resources like a volunteer strategy template, volunteer survey template and many more. Lunch and Learn - Another initiative from 💜Mushka Cohen-Gluck to host monthly webinars with expert speakers. Events - We host networking events and our Volunteero summit offering attendees free access at our own expense. We believe helping connect great people is vital! What else could we do? We want to hear from you! Great to meet some wonderful people, thanks for coming Marina Harden, Margaret Joan Smith, Helen Keenan #volunteermanagement #volunteerrecruitment #charitydigital

Your logo is your organisation's face. It is a core element of conveying brand personality. When you think of NSPCC or Nike, you will picture their logo, and it will conjure up particular feelings. Caboodle Fundraising and Marketing provides consultancy and mentoring. We target charity and social enterprise CEOs and trustees to help them generate more income. So my new logo will have an overriding corporate and professional tone. But there is a bit of me in it too, with a splash of colour as a reminder to not take life too seriously. Colour sparks emotions: ◾Purple - wisdom, authority and creativity. ◾Green - growth, balance and harmony. (Fundraising must work in harmony with your charity's mission, vision, beliefs and values). ◾Yellow - energy, optimism and positivity. ◾Red - power, energy and passion. These words will be reinforced by sprinkling them throughout messaging. One of Gareth Kirk's favourite phrases is: "It is all about people!" He is right. No matter what it is, it almost always boils down to being about people. Fundraising is about giving people a fulfilling experience, which keeps them coming back for more. Back in the day when I was studying for my Institute of Marketing diploma a definition of marketing was: "Identifying anticipating and supplying satisfaction for people." It has got bastardized in some quarters to being about selling. I proudly remain old school. So it features a person. Consider dinging the bell on my profile to see future posts to follow my rebranding journey. #Communications #Fundraising #Marketing #Branding #Rebrand Feel free to drop your logo in comments to boost brand awareness.

It’s hard to express what it feels like to join this group of #accessibilty warriors. On the one hand, it’s extremely inspiring. The people and organisations that have signed the #PACIOU charter are committed to championing inclusive packaging design, and they’ve undoubtedly made huge progress over the last few years. But despite the myriad of technological solutions now available, change is painfully slow. Solving for the ‘minority’ just isn’t a commercial priority for many businesses. Even though that group of consumers you’re excluding could represent the difference in volume you need to hit that growth target you’re striving for. Even considering that one in five of us will experience age related sight loss- yes, it could be you one day. It’s frustrating and overwhelming, but we can’t keep ignoring the problem. The solutions exist and we all need to play our part. Let’s make packaging accessible to ALL consumers. #Packaging #Accessibility #PACIOU RNIB GS1 UK PAC Global

Fashion shops are awash with coats at the moment. 🧥🧥🧥 There's a huge range of colours, styles and sizes, so now's the time to invest. But what colour should you buy? 🤔 Well, if you're only going to buy one coat this winter, the most versatile colour for you will be one similar to the colour of your hair. Coats cover a large area of your body, and the colour is close to your face, so getting the undertone of the colour right to enhance your skin tone and look healthy (rather than pale and washed out) is essential. Here are some examples: If you have warm blonde hair, a light, warm camel coat will complement your hair colour beautifully. On the other hand, if you have cool blonde hair, a light blue-based rose brown coat will make you shine. Have you embraced your grey hair? Then, a grey coat will look terrific on you. The value (the lightness or darkness) of the colour matters too. If you have dark hair, consider darker-coloured coats. If you have medium-value hair, opt for a medium-value coat. If you have light hair, a lighter-coloured coat will suit you best. #stylisttips #sydneystylist #wintercoats #winterstyle #AutumnStyle #personalstylist #imageconfidence

Breaking the Silence on Gender and Bias in Innovate UK's Grant Awarding Process As a female entrepreneur, I’ve had my fair share of challenges. But what I experienced with Innovate UK’s recent grant awards leaves me with a bitter taste of disappointment amongst other disappointments within this space. I recently applied for a grant, and despite receiving an impressive score of 8.7/10, I did not receive the funding. The feedback from the assessors was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting my compelling pitch, extensive background, and clear role as a mentor and leader—yet still, I was overlooked. It is disheartening, not just for me, but for every female founder, and every underserved voice who has to fight twice as hard for recognition, respect, and resources. This recent experience highlights the systemic gender gap in funding for women in innovation, amongst other things. How can we encourage more diverse voices, if women and underserved voices are continually sidelined despite proving their excellence? This isn’t just about one grant. It’s about an entire ecosystem that needs reform. It’s time for Innovate UK and other institutions to not just talk about equity, but actively deliver on it. This is why we need more organisations Ethical Equity to continue to fight for equality, inclusion, and fair opportunities for all women and underserved founders, and I urge the wider entrepreneurial community to demand better. Anyway, despite of all of these disappointments we as a business AMSCHELA OFFICIAL will continue to make progress towards our strategic imperatives with loads of highlights alone the way to demonstrate our drive to success and sustainablity. One of our special highlights will be part of our annoucement tomorrow. We deserve better. #InnovationGap #WomenInBusiness #FemaleEntrepreneurs #GenderBias #Equity #Entrepreneurship Denis Lindsay Ali Kazmi Gill Wildman, PhD Tara Attfield-Tomes Kalpna Woolf Paul Jones Alex Ardalan-Raikes MBE DL (Hon LLD)

Women and those from marginalised genders face additional challenges in entrepreneurship including struggles with imposter syndrome, a lack of role models with shared experiences, and discrimination when applying for funding. The majority of founders we support are women, and we tailor a lot of our programme and community content to reflect this, exploring the shared experience of those in our cohorts, discussing techniques to tackle imposter syndrome and sharing insights on running a business alongside caring responsibilities. I'm pleased to share my new venture - The Gynae Project, a research based CIC designed to uncover the menstrual concerns women and girls face in the UK. Using this data, we’ll be creating content, experiences and services to help women and girls have improved and routine access to menstrual care and education. 😊 Based on the data we have collated so far, 💡 78.3% of women and girls feel dismissed when seeking medical advice for menstrual concerns and, 💡 71% of women and girls are not familiar with the current gynaecological referral process through the NHS. This highlights that the process to getting support for menstruation isn’t clear, easily accessible or managed with care. The Gynae Project exists to improve how menstrual concerns are discussed, diagnosed and managed, helping women and girls feel more empowered to make informed decisions, remove taboos and advocate for themselves. 🗓 On Friday 14th June 2024, I'm hosting a launch event for the business called “On Your Cycle” - a menstrual health conversation and exercise class for women and girls. To get tickets, please grab them from here - https://lnkd.in/e9kwKSme. My professional career has been extremely valuable to date, and I'm now looking forward to getting stuck into new meaningful work! Happy Monday Everyone ⛅️ I’m starting my week off with gratitude as earlier this month I took some time off to celebrate my birthday, reflect on life and the 16 years of working in the fashion industry As a highly ambitious woman I still have a lot that I want to achieve in both my career and personal life. I may not have fully changed the fashion industry or bought the mansion and car of my dreams (yet) but still consider myself a success Albert Schweitzer once said “success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." I absolutely love what I do, sweving others through THE FASHION BLUEPRINT and supporting fellow entrepreneurs grow and scale sexy, sustainable businesses. Every challenge, setback, and triumph shapes us into the leaders we aspire to be. Here's to the growth, the grit, and the success that lies ahead! What do you consider as success? #Entrepreneurship #Success #GrowthMindset

Final preparations for my 'Creative Resilience in Uncertainty' workshop at the Alliance of Independent Agencies Festival of Happiness on Thursday. I love the build up to a workshop (I'm holding another tomorrow for Soho House & Co on motivation); the numerous run throughs, finalising my outfit ;-) aaaaand the visualisation and voice activation part. That's the really fun bit for me. This is where I mentally visualise how I will show up, present, and the outcome of the workshop.... Then I talk about how successful the workshop was (to myself...I know, I know but talking to myself as I walk around my office/house/while I'm driving might seem bonkers but this shizzle works) as though it's already happened. I literally speak my desired outcome. Why do this? - Mental rehearsal builds Neural Pathways - this reinforces the brains mapy to make it easier to achieve in real life - Prime your brain's filter (RAS) - Speaking about goals as if they're already achieved trains your brain's Reticular Activating System to notice opps and resources aligned with that goal, bringing clarity and focus - Boost motivation through dopamine - visualising positive outcomes triggers dopamine, creating a reward loop that keeps you energised and motivated to bring your vision to life You get to imagine your goals and train your brain to create them...What's not to love about this?! I can help you in 3 ways: 1.) Themed workshops - addressing the real challenges you face - leave with mindset tools you can practice in the moment 2.) Mindset Master Blueprint ™ : the must-have mental fitness resource for employees who work in fast paced industries with data insights so you can provide personalised solutions. 3.) Personalised employee wellbeing content: Themed add-on bundles tailored to meet the needs of employees

"Why do we value old objects over older people?" Why indeed. It's a powerful question and a powerful ad. I know there are great organizations in Canada like AGE-WELL NCE Inc. ,CanAge and Canadian Association of Retired Persons - CARP, but what are we doing as a society? Fantastic, provocative ad that will hopefully get people---including governments, employers and the wider community talking. #aging #agediscrimination #olderadults #socialsafetynet #endbias #seniors

Looking forward to catching up with lots of old friends and meeting new people at todays UN Global Compact Network UK Annual Summit I’m excited (and quite nervous ) to be helping to finish the event with a fun but serious debate where we will consider the following motion : 🤔 This house believes that voluntary commitments are more efficient in propelling sustainability and prosperity than regulatory frameworks Myself and a great panel of speakers will be (respectfully) locking horns on questions like: ❔ Are regulations the key to unlocking success or do they create unnecessary economic burdens? ❓ Do voluntary frameworks enable flexibility and innovation, or allow for complacency and inaction? ❔Is it the responsibility of the private sector to lead the way in shaping regulations? ❓Do evolving regulatory requirements represent a shift towards a more sustainable and responsible business ethos? (To find out what my genuine views on this subject are, feel free to get in touch!) Have you heard that Shein plans to sell shares on the London Stock Exchange? We all know fast fashion has major issues, but Shein has set new records. No one had heard of them ten years ago, but they have now overtaken H&M in sales and are set to overtake Zara as well. They have changed fast fashion - for the worse. Their entire business model is based on churning out micro-trends as quickly as possible. Who cares if it's terrible quality and you only wear it once? It was only £3 and will be out of style next week anyway. The company exploits workers, steals from independent designers and avoids tax. Their clothes are full of micro-plastics and lead, and end up dumped in the Global South where they have no resale value and pollute the environment. Enter, the #SayNoToShein campaign. Started by fair fashion campaigner, Venetia LaManna and journalist Grace Blakely. We need to establish new laws that mean businesses can no longer exploit and pollute but that won't happen overnight. In the meantime, we can block them from becoming further legitimised in the UK. In the thread below are links to their website, petition and a letter you can send to your MP! #CorporateResponsibility #SustainableBusiness #EthicalBusiness

Let’s improve representation in beauty and ensure our voices are heard! 📣 💚 The British Beauty Council recently launched the largest diversity equity & inclusion focused survey in British beauty, to uncover the true makeup of the industry. ‘The Beauty Census’ is part of its latest campaign, “A Beauty Industry That Looks Like You,” with British Beauty Council setting out to understand the British beauty industry's landscape. From makeup, to skincare, to hair, to personal care and holistic wellbeing, there’s no denying the beauty industry wields significant influence in shaping social and cultural attitudes, norms and values. Not to mention, in the UK alone in 2022 it contributed £24.5 billion to the economy, and supports over 550,000 jobs, with 81% of employees being women. So at Ageism Is Never In Style® we support this initiative and encourage all to participate in the Beauty Census - whether you’re a consumer, actively work in the industry, or both. With the census closing TOMORROW, there’s not long to fill it out. But it only takes a few minutes (plus there’s the chance to win a beauty bag worth over £100 😉 ) Your input is crucial for capturing an accurate picture of the industry’s makeup and guiding its future, and to ignite much-needed change in equity, accessibility, and inclusivity. Together we can ensure that this sector reflects true diversity and inclusivity, driving meaningful change and foster a more representative beauty landscape. Head over to https://lnkd.in/dzZrDpRz to have your say 💚 And thank you Jacqui Burchell for a great chat today, following on from meeting at the Midlife Revolution panel event last week hosted by Niki Jones at Southpaw and Charley Day-Lennon at The Kite Factory #AgeismIsNeverInStyle #BeautyIndustryThatLooksLikeYou #BritishBeautyCouncil #BeautyIndustry #TheBritishBeautyCouncil #InclusivityMatters #DEI #DiversityAndInclusion #RepresentationMatters #Midlife #Boomers #GenX #AgeDiscrimination #AgeInclusivity #AgeInclusion #AgeInclusive #ProAge #ProAgeBeauty #BeautyIndustry #HaveYourSay #BeautyCampaign #AgeRepresentation #AuthenticRepresentation #Representation

Concerned about the #PIPReformsProposed? If so, please take a look at this Green Paper Consultation from the UK Government and respond to it. If you can, encourage disability charities and organisations to respond to it as well on behalf of their members and to share it if possible with their members for a greater number of responses even if with suggestions or a proforma. It's important that the UK Government hears the voices of those who rely on #PIP and will be most impacted by the implementation of their reform plans. Beware the pitfalls of the one dimensional Easy Read version and the Easy Read Questionnaire which is not the official online questionnaire to the PIP Consultation but a survey to gain support for the UK Government's own ideas which the Easy Read version steers readers to support at the expense of others who rely on PIP for whom it may not be given in the future. It runs the risk of going down the one off grants and vouchers route which won't pay for ongoing everyday needs and expenses. It also could lead to loans instead of grants. They sell the grant idea by explaining that it doesn't need to be repaid. They fail to remind people that student maintenance grants eventually became loans and some things people need to periodically buy for their disability, aren't easy to save up for first. They suggest people pay for what they need out of their own pocket first and then try to claim it back. Some brands or items may end up excluded and deemed not necessary by the decision makers who don't understand the need. Some people who cannot work, can't afford to pay for these needs up front without receiving PIP. They grossly misled the increased cost of PIP via the graphic used in the Easy Read version with £5 and £20 note stacks. They claimed the costs have more than doubled but the footnote figures in the standard version go from £17k to £33k so less than double. They depict the increase with a stack of £5 notes and then an arrows to a stack more than twice the height of £20 notes which are worth four times the face value per note thus implying more than eight times in expenses to the state instead of the nearly double claim. Seriously misleading via Easy Read. Ask a family member, local Citizens Advice or charity for help in responding via a paper or online form other than the Easy Read Questionnaire which is designed to muster up support for their flawed own ideas. #GreenPaper #Consultation #PIPConsultation #Disability #AccessibleLiving #DisabilityLivingAllowance #PersonalIndependencePayment

I was recently invited to be a guest speaker at the fabulous Beauty & The Brand women’s empowerment event in Manchester 🔥 As a Visibility Coach I LOVE helping female founders overcome self-doubt & develop unshakeable confidence in themselves and their visibility strategies! Below are the 5 tips I shared with attendees to bolster their self-confidence & boost 🔥 their brand visibility. Let me know which tip you find most helpful! 😄 1️⃣ STOP TRYING TO FIX WHAT YOU SUCK AT. You don’t have to be perfect. Level up by playing to your strengths. 🎯 YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN DO WHAT YOU DO, IN YOUR UNIQUE VOICE 2️⃣ NO ONE CARE AS MUCH AS YOU DO (about your content) 💁🏼♀️ Don’t let perfectionism hold you back. No one is watching as closely as you think they are! Post the Reel, share the selfie, show your face! 💪 Your dream client is waiting. 🥳 3️⃣ FITTING IN IS COSTING YOU CLIENTS. 😱 Be unique. Stand out. Don’t copy. Your dream client needs you. And if you need to unfollow some people for your sanity..DO IT! 😘 4️⃣ YOUR BRAND IS MUCH BIGGER THAN SOCIAL MEDIA. As much as I love socials and how creative we can be with content, putting all your 🪺 in a basket you don’t own, is a risky strategy! ❌ Don’t rely solely on social media. DIVERSIFY your visibility strategy ie. do you have 💡a website (with a blog for SEO) 💡an email newsletter, building your mailing list (priceless), 💡are you getting out there, networking people who can help you grow faster 💡are you putting yourself forward as an expert in your field - think podcast interviews, guest expert blog posts, speaking gigs, masterclasses. 5️⃣ OPEN YOUR HEART.💓 👯♀️ Embrace community. Collaborate. Support. Grow together. Women are WIRED for community and I’m a huge believer in the saying: “a rising tide lifts all boats”- so why not build your dream brand & life surrounded by your business besties? 👯♀️ And if you’re looking for a community, join The Visibility & Confidence Collective in my bio ⬆️🩷 😁Interested in 1:1 visibility coaching? Is it now up to small businesses to take the lead? Today is part 6 and the last in the series of webinars provided by Small Business Britain for the Sustainability Programme sponsored by BT. It’s going to be fascinating to hear from Adam Bastock about the funding landscape, learning how to identify and approach various funding sources such as local councils, universities, private competition funds, and corporate grants. The irony is that the enthusiasm of small business owners on the programme to create more sustainable businesses contrasts with what’s going on in the investment world. Take BlackRock, who once “counted ESG principles as important hallmarks of a sound investment,” are now described in this Observer article: “BlackRock has confirmed that in the 12 months to the end of June 2024, it supported only 20 of the 493 environmental and social proposals put forward by shareholders at the annual meetings of the firms in which it invests. This represents just 4% of ESG proposals, compared with 47% three years ago.” And sadly Unilever, where I started my marketing career, “signalled earlier this year that it would abandon or water down a string of ESG pledges amid a growing backlash from investors and politicians.” https://lnkd.in/eXziWRJS And yet, KPMG research shows that “Many consumers care about the sustainability of items” ➡️ 67% say that they try to seek out green or sustainable options for some of the products and services they buy ➡️ 18% say they have changed their mind about a company due to misleading green claims ➡️ 54% state that they would stop buying products and services from companies found to have greenwashed ➡️ while 38% would stop investing in them So maybe this tension creates the opportunity for small businesses to fill the ethical gap? #sustainability #brandvalues
