Redundancy is such a sensitive topic, I’ve been reluctant to mention it for fear of touching a nerve but my network is so heavily impacted one way or another I can’t not mention it. 🫣 I spent years of my career supporting and coaching individuals who were impacted by redundancy. My role touched thousands going through it and I witnessed first hand every possible emotion one can feel when impacted by redundancy – shock, despair, sadness, fear, joy, optimism, anxiety – so many conflicting emotions. I am pleased to still be in touch with many of those individuals and it brings me joy to watch their careers fly years on having been so unsettled during that time. It gives me hope, those in my network will find the right role and this difficult time will simply be a viewed as a small setback that helped catapult their career forward longer term.📈 It’s easy for businesses to overlook “the ones who are left behind” because their priority is (and should be) on the impacted individuals. BUT many businesses are missing a trick by not engaging their remaining workforce and supporting them cope with change that is thrust upon them. Most employees enjoy their work because of the people - the social aspect, the team dynamics and camaraderie, the friendships that are made in the office and via video calls, celebrating the wins together and supporting each other through the more challenging moments. There must be so many teams reeling from the secondary impact redundancy has had on them. The once busy office, is quieter, the full banks of desks, now have gaps in them, the team meetings don’t ever feel full, the skills gaps widen overnight, the loss of trust in the organization grows and the impact on team morale is huge – these are just a handful of side effects that often businesses don’t think about. 😱😩😵 The purpose of redundancy projects is usually to cut costs, drive efficiencies and productivity but without supporting your remaining workforce, the impact of redundancy can have the exact opposite effect. 💰👎🏻📉 💡 If you are a business owner or People leader, and this post speaks to you, its time to think what else can be done to support your team… 💡 #retentionbeforereplacement #teambuilding #internalcommunications

Monzo Bank will open a window of opportunity for its employees to sell shares at $4.5 billion valuation #Monzo, the UK-based digital bank founded in 2015, has announced that hundreds of its employees will have the opportunity to sell part of their shares as the company's valuation soars to an impressive £4.5 billion. This secondary share sale is backed by leading investors, including existing backers StepStone Group and GIC, the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund. Monzo has rapidly become one of Britain's most successful #fintech companies, boasting over 10 million customers and employing more than 3,700 people. Earlier this year, the bank raised over £500 million in a primary share sale led by Capital G, a division of Alphabet-owned Google, which valued the company at £4.1 billion at the time. Under CEO TS Anil and Chairman Gary Hoffman, Monzo has diversified its offerings beyond digital banking to include investments, instant access savings accounts, pensions products, and accounts for under-16s. The company operates in the competitive UK fintech market alongside rivals like Starling Bank and Revolut. With strong backing from investors, Monzo is gearing up for international expansion and is eyeing a potential stock market listing in the next couple of years. Monzo Bank's FY24 results are in, and they've hit a 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭. Diving deep into the numbers reveals three key drivers behind its impressive growth: 1. Customer Expansion 👤 Monzo's customer base grew from 7.4M in FY23 to 9.7M in FY24, including a doubling of business accounts from 200K to 400K. With 46% of new customers acquired through word of mouth, this organic growth highlights strong customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. 2. New Product Innovations 🆕 The launch of products such as tax-free savings ISAs has attracted 1.3M customers. Monzo Flex (a novel credit card/BNPL hybrid), and overdraft facilities offer higher interest rates and greater financial flexibility. A significant 42% rise in card spend—from £33.6B in FY23 to £47.8B in FY24—demonstrates heightened customer engagement and trust, solidifying Monzo as a preferred choice for daily transactions. 3. Enhanced Profitability and Financial Strength 📈 Monzo’s profit before tax hit £15.4M, marking its first full year of profitability. This milestone underscores effective cost management, diversified revenue streams, and scalable operations. With gross revenue surging 2.5x to £880M, Monzo’s successful monetisation strategies and strong market demand are evident. At the same time, customer deposits soared by 88% to £11.2B, reflecting growing customer confidence and reliance on Monzo as a primary banking institution. Future Growth Trajectories: Strategic Focus Areas 🎯 Monzo aims to expand its consumer base to 11M by FY25, leveraging organic growth and innovative marketing strategies. It plans to venture into mortgages and go deeper into business lending, indicating significant headroom for product diversification and revenue enhancement.
