In case you missed it… The IR35 shift has officially taken effect as of April 5th. For businesses utilising contingent labor in the UK, staying informed is crucial. The implementation of the 'IR35 offset' brings about significant changes: 1️⃣The risk associated with employing Ltd company contractors has decreased by 75%, making it a less daunting option. 2️⃣Engaging contractors 'inside IR35' will now come with a higher cost compared to low-risk outside IR35 assignments. 3️⃣Expect a surge in outside IR35 assignments. 4️⃣ Sourcing top-tier contractors for inside IR35 roles will become increasingly challenging, or it may require heavier financial investments. These developments are promising substantial cost savings and improved resource accessibility. This serves as a catalyst for HR, Tax, Legal, and Procurement departments to reassess and refine their policies regarding ltd company contractors. 📊 Using data to drive the best decisions for patients and the taxpayer in the NHS 🏥 You don’t need to look too deep into the news to understand the monumental challenge facing the NHS. Meeting the needs of an aging and increasingly sick population with dwindling resources is pushing much of the service to breaking point. Enter the valiant NHS procurement professionals who are fighting to deliver world leading clinical outcomes within tightening budgets. In the latest Spotlight on Procurement podcast Efficio’s Simon Lipscomb talks to Birmingham and Solihull’s Simon Clarke about the amazing work that’s been done through the procurement collaborative to leverage off the buying power of the NHS, all while reinforcing multi-disciplinary collaboration and evidence-based decision making to put patient outcomes at the centre of purchasing. AdviseInc’s Mat Oram brought in fascinating insight about the power of data in the procurement space and how much power it unlocks for the function. It was really interesting to hear how the power of big data was able to overcome some of the challenges imposed by the federal structure of the NHS hospital system, while maintaining the flexibility that is gained by procurement being run at trust or ICS level. The whole podcast is definitely worth a listen whether you are part of the NHS or a procurement professional anywhere else. This is precisely the value-adding function that procurement can be when it is resourced, respected and strategically minded; delivering innovation and benefit into the whole organisation. I know from my own experience across the public sector and defence the importance of good data to drive change that matters and lasts. Has anyone seen great examples of this anywhere?
