In Q2 of this year in the UK the average Perm Consultant made 4 placements and the average Temp Consultant made 6 placements. (UK) When we looked at the consultants at the Top 5 agencies on Recruiter Insider for Candidate Experience, we discovered that: 🚀 the average Perm Consultant there made 5 placements 🚀 the average Temp Consultant made 10 placements. In Q2 alone, the agencies with the highest candidate experience scores made 1 extra Perm placement per consultant and an 4 extra temp placements per consultant. Highlighting as always the impact candidate experience has on your placement numbers. The data doesn’t lie, an improved candidate experience means more placements. In 2024, job seekers in the UK face several challenges, despite some positive developments. While the job market remains tight, with sectors like healthcare, education, and engineering experiencing skill shortages, overall vacancy rates are declining. For example, vacancies dropped to around 889,000 by mid-2024, compared to previous highs. Graduates in particular continue to find better opportunities in specialized sectors like pharmaceuticals, finance, and aerospace, though competition remains tough, especially for non-graduate roles in retail and services. Remote and hybrid work options, popular during the pandemic, are decreasing slightly, with fewer job postings offering flexibility, especially in sectors like tech. However, employers in finance and legal services are still more open to these models. The economic slowdown, coupled with workforce gaps caused by immigration policies and an aging population, is making it harder for businesses to hire, despite efforts to boost employment through wage growth and training programs. How to know if something in your recruitment workflow can be automated. Use the automation rule: IF this → THEN, that All automation follows this logic. If one action happens, then another follows. - When a note is added, email the candidate. - When a client doesn’t have recent placements, notify the recruiter. - When a placement field is updated, copy that info to the candidate profile. The TEKsystems: 'State of Digital Transformation, 2024' report, makes for a really, really interesting read! Some really interesting insights into how organisations are planning to invest and transform, the returns they're expecting and what they're prioritising to ensure their digital transformation efforts are set to be successfully delivered. I wanted to highlight a few areas from within the report, as many of the findings really resonated with conversations I've had with retail/consumer technology and digital leaders in recent months. The survey found that the top Digital Transformation goals are to:- - Improve Customer Experience and Engagament: 35% - Replace or upgrade legacy IT systems: 34% - Reduce operational ineffiency: 31% - Enhance employee performance/productivity: 30% - Transform existing business processes: 29% Other notable DX focusses noted were: increase innovation, bolster cybersecurity, increase speed to market of products and services, and introducing new products and services. The Top Digital Transformation Challenges were listed as:- - Complexity of current environment / siloed mindset: 32% - Gaps in technical talent: 27% - High or unforeseen costs: 26% - Cultural and capability issues: 25% - Change Management and implementation complications: 24% - Economic uncertainties: 24% - Lack of internal alignment: 22% - Alignment of DX initiatives to business strategy: 20% - Lack of Snr level support: 13% Also interesting to read was the sheer lack of confidence many organisations have in their existing teams to successfully deliver their transformational roadmaps: - 10% suggested a need to completely revise their talent base, - 33% stated that they need many new types of talent in volume, - 49% believe they require some new types of talent in a few areas, - 8% feel as though they have all the skills they need. Needless to say, the digital transformation goals of the surveyed organisations will be virtually impossible to achieve without first: - strategising around how to tackle the expected challenges - building an appropriate talent acquisition strategy and an effective, skill-relevant delivery capability. "Hey Alexa/Siri or similar, recruit me a Project Engineer" Has Recruitment REALLY become as easypeasy as that? 😮 I just read an article about a technology which claims to give companies complete hands free control of a recruitment process supposedly making it as easy as on line shopping using only voice commands! Surely recruiting top talent requires more than just AI based voice prompts? Well, I for one hope that this technology is short lived as I'm not too keen on the idea of being replaced and living out my days with a tin pot in hand sat on a street corner! 📈 RECRUITMENT TRENDS WITHIN THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENT INDUSTRY! 📈 With many currently looking into roles within the industry, I thought it would be a perfect time to give you an insight into some of the common trends we are finding within the industry! 👇 1️⃣ Let's be honest, it is not always evident when a candidate has specialised skills! This is something we often advise our candidates to highlight better whether that be on their CV, their LinkedIn or generally highlighting their expertise during conversations! You never know, your skill may be the key to someone else's problem! ⚒️ 2️⃣ Similar to the above, with the growing use of automation and AI, it is becoming increasingly important to be as specific as possible with your skillsets, especially on your CV! Don't make the mistake of being disregarded due to not putting key information on your CV! 📃 3️⃣ Flexible working has become more common over the years, especially with recent discussions of implementing a four-day week! However, something we are noticing is that due to the pandemic affecting the ability to create an office culture, multiple companies are now looking to have candidates willing to go into the office, even if it is just once a week! This is something I would advise you to consider when looking for a new role (dependent on the role of course). ⌛ 4️⃣This links back to my previous post about doing background research into companies and this growing trend has given candidates an advantage they may not have had before. The increasing information entering the public domain as a result of this has enabled candidates to complete more in-depth research on both the company and those that work for the company too! Utilise this to your advantage! 🔍 5️⃣Similar to point 1, there has been an evident gap in the market for engineers and we are finding an increasing demand for those with technical abilities to join both engineering and sales teams!
