Shaping the Future of Venue Security - Navigating the Path Forward After the Manchester Arena Attack. A lot of our work before the Manchester Arena Bombing revolved around Theatre and Venue security. Over this time i have seen a significant shift, expedited by the attack at Manchester and the amazing work of Figen Murray to push through Martyn's Law. Since the Manchester Arena bombings, theatres across the UK have been on somewhat of a journey when it comes to security. The upcoming Protect Duty legislation, aka Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, though the exact details remain unclear, is already shaping the future of venue security. Venues on the most part are not waiting for guidelines to be set in stone. The shift towards a proactive security culture is underway, driven by a long awaited common-sense approach. Security risk assessments, once a tick box exercise in many instances, are now comprehensive documents and part of the organisation. Security plans are moving from generic templates to bespoke strategies tailored to the unique vulnerabilities of each venue. Business continuity planning and major incident planning, previously on the periphery are now becoming a part of every organisation. Venues recognise that is not just about preventing incidents but also about bouncing back. The industry is at a crossroads, navigating the fine line between ensuring safety and preserving the magic of live entertainment. This journey is not just about compliance; it's about commitment — a commitment to the safety of every attendee, performer, and staff member.

Along with many businesses in and around Gloucestershire, we've been working on this, listening to what is needed to drive more localised procurement, for over2 years. It's brilliant to see this milestone with the first release of the Together Gloucestershire database that for the first time gives Businesses that care deeply about the county and investing in the community and county business ecosystem an opportunity to simply interrogate a widely accessible database based on locality and credentials. It allows all buyers and procurement teams to simply and effectively access the goods and services we have on offer in the county. Play to Win I have had this expectant culture that I have developed over the years, and it has turned out so well. I enjoy engaging in games and expect to win, and true to my expectations I win offen. You can receive what you expect . But the most important thing is that companies have learnt creative ways to build prospective leads and build a client database. They put up a table in events, brief you about their company and then engage you to play and if you win you get a gift. Before the game you have to register your name and email address and that is how they build their lead and also brief you about their product and service.. Having spent more than 18 years in the #event industry, I’ve seen the value of training and educating yourself throughout your career. You can #learn even after school and university. With a rapidly evolving world, being able to go with the flow of change is an extremely valuable #skill. But how do you get that skill? There are 3 things you can do in order to train and educate yourself even whilst you work. 1/ Workshops and courses. Online learning materials are extremely popular. You can learn about finance or events even if you work in a different industry. There is a lot of #knowledge out there. Use it. 2/ Networking. Meeting the right people allows you to learn and understand things in a much faster way. Learn from industry experts and people with decades of #experience. 3/ Practice active listening. Listening and following what is being shared with you as much as you can is very important. It allows you to really absorb information. In meetings, or at conferences, being present and actively making an effort to understand everything, will give you the ability to get and use knowledge. Be focused.

It’s really refreshing to see how all team members feel training and variations of training and tool kits support our operation, in football but also in delivering differnt spectrum of activities, events and services in our building.
