Here’s a few reasons why you MUST have weekly exposure to sprint training ⚽️ ➡️ Obviously you will increase your speed speed and improve a wide range of key qualities essential for sprinting and almost every athletic movement BUT here are a few unobvious ones ⚡️ When you improve your top speed you will also increase your anaerobic speed reserve (ASR). Your ASR is the difference between your maximum sprint speed and your maximal aerobic speed. By increasing your Max Speed your aerobic speed reserve will increasing meaning you won’t fatigue as fast compared to someone with a lower ASR %. This will allow you to complete more high intensity sprints for a longer duration as each sprint isn’t as fatiguing. ✅Due to each run being less less metabolic and and neuromuscular demanding compared to someone with a lower top speed you will be able to recover quicker in-between sprints but also faster in-between games 💯 Got some crazy things coming.. Stop Doing Group Classes If You Want To Get In Shape ❌ Structure, progression and personalisation within your training program is essential if you’re looking for fast results with your physique and performance. Most group classes are randomised and not tailored to the individual. Doing a class every now and again to get a sweat on and socialise is fine, but they shouldn’t make up the majority of your training sessions.

⚫️ TECHNIQUE OF THE WEEK ⚫️ These have been a hot topic in the industry for the last year or so. Essentially they involve utilising a partial range of motion that includes significant tension at longer muscle lengths. The current state of the research is extremely encouraging, with lengthened partials typically resulting in more muscle growth than full range-of-motion movements on the vast majority of muscle groups tested. Both are particularly effective on exercises where the shortened range is disproportionately weaker than the lengthened range, such as calf raises or many of the exercises shown here. Be aware though that these may not be practical or safe on all exercises, and I do still believe that there are likely to be some benefits to be had from loading the entire working range of a muscle.
