About us
With over twenty years of scientific heritage, York Biotech Campus (previously National Agri-Food Innovation Campus, NAFIC) is a proven facility for discovery, innovation and success. Situated a few miles north of the historic city of York in an attractive 80-acre parkland setting, the campus provides space for both entrepreneurs and start-ups through to scale-ups and established organisations in a flexible and unique scientific environment. As a biotech hub, we host a variety of organisations that span the sector from agri-tech, food biotechnology, environmental, medical, healthcare, diagnostics and patents. Each addressing real world issues from how to feed, fuel and heal the world. We offer an enviable location and opportunities to interact with world-class scientists and businesses all working at the interface of government, academia and industry. The campus also has an onsite restaurant, nursery and gym. We are also home to Lakeside Conference Centre, a unique events space that offers flexible meeting rooms and a 250 seat auditorium with floor to ceiling windows, flooding the space with natural daylight. The centre also houses a spacious and light mezzanine area, providing a large open space that can be used for exhibitions or as a breakout area between meetings, or for smaller group discussions.

Our Lakeside Restaurant was also spreading cheer with a menu packed full of festive favourites, including pigs-in-blanket burgers and loaded mini roasties. We were delighted to have Elliott Harrison Prints, Bar Walls Gin, The Heat Lab, Tropic Skincare, Sandburn Hall, amongst others, join us for the event. Thanks for all coming! #Community #ChristmasMarket #HolidaySpirit

At York Biotech Campus, several of our occupiers play an important role in environmental science and ecology. One of these occupiers is the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). The UK government is currently progressing The Water (Special Measures) Bill through parliament, delivering the most significant increase in enforcement powers in a decade. The bill will give regulators new powers to take tougher action against water companies damaging our environment through polluting water sources. Here’s what DEFRA’s Secretary of State said about the bill last month⬇️ #DEFRA #WaterSpecialMeasuresBill #RuralAffairs #Parliament
The work to clean up our rivers, lakes and seas has begun. Our #WaterBill is progressing with its second reading in the House Of Lords today.

Our estates manager, Liz Cashon, recently attended a roundtable for TheBusinessDesk.com on the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIFII). The roundtable facilitated an insightful discussion on how creating the right conditions for entrepreneurs and innovative companies to thrive is hugely important to growth in the region. Liz joined other funders, fund managers, entrepreneurs, business owners and advisers to discuss the key themes of sustainable funding and growth. On the growth and investment of York Biotech Campus, Liz shared that her focus is on the wider ecosystem of bioscience in the region, commenting: “Obviously, it is very important to us to continue to nurture the growth of our businesses. But I think what our job really is to do, is to bring the experienced businesses to those early-stage businesses. “Luckily, we’ve got some really good mentors on the site that are very prepared to talk to those businesses and explain exactly how they were successful in achieving the funding. Bringing that community together is essential, but it’s also essential to reach out to the wider community.” Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/eK_5a4DD Thank you to The Business Desk for hosting an engaging roundtable, it was fantastic to speak with Victoria Garcia, CEO of BindEthics Ltd., Lizzy Upton, Senior Investment Manager and Simon Cunnington, Director at British Business Bank, James Fenwick, Director of Tråd Collective, Armando Leal Puente co-founder and Chief Executive of Eutechtics, Amir Hussain, Founder of Yeme Tech, Jason Crispin, Chief Executive at IMAGINaiTION, Will Clark, Managing Director and Pete Sorsby fund principal at Mercia Asset Management PLC, Christopher Lunardi, Ecosystem Manager at Barclays Eagle Labs. #Roundtable #Yorkshire #RegionalInvestment #Bioscience
