🌍 Reflecting on Black History Month at Whitbread 🌍 We’re proud to look back on the incredible events and initiatives that took place during October to celebrate, educate, and inspire. Here’s a recap of Black History Month at Whitbread 👇 🗣️ Personal Stories – Team members shared what Black history means to them, creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue and connection. 🛍️ Black-Owned Business Event – We highlighted and supported local Black-owned businesses, giving them a platform to promote their products. 🍽️ Cookery Class Competition – Two lucky winners enjoyed authentic recipes at Migrateful in Farringdon, London, and an overnight stay. Migrateful empowers refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants by helping them share their cultures through cooking, fostering community integration, and skills development. 🎬 Watch Party Event – In collaboration with Black Cinema, we hosted a screening of The Road to Freedom, shedding light on significant stories from Black history. 🎶 Our First-Ever Network Playlist – We curated a Spotify playlist with our Whitbread community, honouring Black artists and their cultural impact through reggae, soul, and R&B. 🍴 Celebrating Black Cuisine – Our Support Centre canteens featured diverse cuisines, offering a delicious taste of culture. 💃 Cultural Dance Class – A dynamic Capoeira class brought the rhythm and energy of Afro-Brazilian culture to our community. We invited our teams to share personal Inclusion Pledges throughout the month, demonstrating our collective commitment to a more inclusive and equitable workplace. Black History Month was an opportunity to celebrate the Black community, deepen our understanding of Black history, and strengthen our commitment to inclusion and allyship. Huge thanks to our REACH network (Race, Ethnicity, and Cultural Heritage) for leading the way in fostering a culture of belonging and driving change at Whitbread. 🔔 Follow us to stay up to date on the incredible work our network is doing throughout the year! 🔔 #BlackHistoryMonth #ReclaimingNarrative #WeValueDifference #DiversityandInclusion

Earlier this year we launched our second internship in partnership with the 10,000 Black Interns initiative. 🌟 Our internship is designed to connect talented people to life-changing opportunities, and allows us to provide opportunities to members of the Black community to come and experience life at Whitbread 🤝 Over 10 weeks, our talented interns immersed themselves in our Technology and Finance teams, supported our inclusion networks, and had the opportunity to engage with our executive leadership team. 💼✨ We’re incredibly proud of their contributions and the fresh perspectives they brought.
