Power to the People - Britain’s first nuclear reactor for a generation is installed. In the project’s biggest milestone yet, the first nuclear reactor for a generation has been installed at Hinkley Point C in Somerset. At just 13m long the first of two “reactor pressure vessels” will provide power to generate enough electricity for 3m homes. The power station’s two units will provide Britain enough reliable low carbon electricity to meet 7% of national demand. • We’re pleased to share that members of our Waldeck HPC team have been recognised in EDF (UK)’s Hinkley Point C (HPC) Excellence Awards. These awards celebrate outstanding achievements on one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects. The Main Civils Works Modularisation initiative, featuring Waldeck’s Peter Cliffin, has been named a finalist in the Best Innovation, Learning, or Efficiency category. Pete has played a vital role in improving how reinforcement cages are fabricated, driving efficiencies that enhance the construction schedule. He’s joined by Ibrahim Uz Zaman, a recent addition to Waldeck, who is already contributing to this scope of work. Pete is attending the awards dinner tonight, reflecting on the nomination, Pete shared: “This initiative allows flexibility in rebar arrangements for prefabricated slabs and panels, improving construction efficiency while meeting strict design standards. Collaboration between client, designer, and contractor has been key to our success, and we’re already seeing results on-site.” Congratulations to all of this year’s finalists! 🌟
