Exciting job alert! People living with arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions have been overlooked for far too long we at Versus Arthritis are determined to change that. So we are bringing together our policy, public affairs, campaigning and health intelligence teams to turbo charge the difference we make. To lead this new department we are recruiting for a new role of Assistant Director of UK Advocacy and Health Intelligence. The postholder will report directly to me to ensure this is a central pillar of our work. We know it wasn't an easy decision, but thank you to everyone who voted for their Research Highlight of 2024. We can confirm that the winner was number 3. Opioid use in Musculoskeletal Patients, conducted by researchers at Centre for Epidemiology Versus Arthritis (more info here - https://bit.ly/4gNNiPT ) Principle Investigator on the study, Meghna said about their win: "We’re thrilled with this news as this recognition means a lot to our team! We hope the study will help leverage more resources for targeted pain management in MSK conditions and enable us to make a difference with future research that builds on this work." We’re offering up to £750k to support excellent mid-career researchers in the field of #arthritis and related #MSK disorders for 5 years. We will invest a total of around £3 million in our Career Development Fellowships to help develop the future leaders of arthritis and musculoskeletal research. Versus Arthritis is committed to strengthening the future of arthritis research by supporting research careers and building skills within the UK arthritis research community. The Career Development Fellowships are an important part of our research strategy. Our Career Development Fellowships support talented #scientists, #medics, #vets, #nurses, and allied health professionals to establish their independence as #researchers in arthritis and related musculoskeletal disorders. We aim to build the capacity and numbers of researchers in mid-career stages by supporting talented researchers, providing them with the opportunity to develop an independent research career and progress towards higher-level appointments. An impactful parliamentary reception last week shone a light on the reality of living with #arthritis. Encouraging MPs to #TakeArthritisSeriously, we were thrilled by the support from many parliamentarians and partners from our sector. Nothing was more moving than 24-year-old Jade's speech about growing up with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), reinforcing the urgency for change. Together, we can make a difference.
