The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill introduced in Parliament today will make a child-centred government a reality by putting children’s interests first and stopping vulnerable children falling through cracks. Minister Daby and Baroness Smith have today announced the conclusion from the review of qualifications reform. Last year, only 20% of pupils with SEND met the expected standard in reading, writing and maths at Key Stage 2 level. Without the right support, these children are falling behind their peers and missing out on future life chances. Local authorities will soon benefit from a £740 million capital investment to make major reforms for pupils with SEND. This will create thousands of new specialist places in mainstream schools through: 🏫 Classroom adaptations to increase accessibility for children with SEND. 🚸 Specialist facilities to suit pupils’ needs. 👩🏫 To drive inclusive education, Professor Karen Guldberg has also been appointed as Chair of a group of Neurodivergence Task and Finish Group of experts.
