UCL ranked 1st in the UK and 5th globally in QS Sustainability Rankings!
UCL has achieved outstanding recognition in the 2025 QS Sustainability Rankings, securing 1st place in the UK, 3rd in Europe, and 5th globally. With an overall score of 98.6 out of 100, the rankings highlight UCL’s leadership in addressing global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges.
Key highlights from the rankings:
📚1st in the UK and globally in Knowledge Exchange, recognising the impact of UCL’s global partnerships that drive educational growth and create positive social progress.
🌱1st in the UK and 3rd globally in Health and Wellbeing, reflecting UCL’s commitment to student and societal wellbeing through initiatives such as achieving the Mental Health Chartermark and delivering evidence-based mental health support.
🌍️ 1st in the UK and 5th globally in Environmental Sustainability, highlighting achievements such as 56% reduction in carbon emissions, a 60% cut in waste per person since 2019, and the opening of PEARL, our first net-zero carbon building.
UCL is continuing its sustainability leadership with the introduction of a new UCL Sustainability Plan in 2025. This plan aims to build on past successes, acknowledge significant challenges, and provide a roadmap for driving meaningful progress over the next decade.
