SRUC's Rural and Veterinary Innovation Centre (RAVIC) is a truly ambitious and innovative approach to a building. It successfully provides multi-tenure collaborative space for working, teaching and learning. It also delivers on a truly sustainable agenda, going that extra (big) step to decarbonise on both an embodied and operational front. The future of workplace is not monochromatic in use. Looking forward, buildings and spaces need to accommodate a blend of purposes, uses and users and cope with the demands and changes this entails. RAVIC tackles this head on and balances, through considered design, a functional and inspiring building in which to work, learn and play. It’s been a rewarding and collaborative effort working with the full project team: Muir Group, Narro, RYBKA, Hirst Landscape Architects, Torrance Partnership LLP, New Acoustics, Helica Projects, Thomson Gray, Currie & Brown

Happy to be invited to speak at the Women in Architectural Technology Winter Social last night at City of Glasgow College. It was amazing to share the stage with these inspiring women. I spoke about designing an inclusive practice, highlighting some of the award winning work Threesixty Architecture Ltd are doing in Equality, Diversity and Inclusive Design. Alison Manners Chartered MCIPD spoke passionately about why Flexibility Works and Marina Milosev delved into gender sensitive urban design, her research with London Legacy Development Corporation and her new venture: Beyond the Red Line. Model-making keeps proving to be a useful tool in exploring, form, light and materiality at early stages of design. This 1:150 concept model is for a re-imagined High Street entrance to Highcross Shopping Centre, Leicester where we are focusing on improving visibility and presence within the wider urban context of Leicester city centre. This physical model allowed us to test the textile inspired, folding metal entrance curtain and how the proposal sits within it’s surroundings.

Phase 1 of the Artizan Masterplan in Dumbarton has been granted Planning Permission and will be delivered by West Dunbartonshire Council. This first phase of the masterplan development comprises a new green landscaped route through the Artizan, connecting the railway station with the high street and river beyond, along with facade refurbishment. The proposals respond to community engagement which called for open space, greening, shelter, play areas, pop up events and acknowledgement of the town's history. Working on the design with LUC, Civic Engineers and Atelier Ten, our involvement centred around the creation of Shelter Structure that brings spatial definition, human scale and flexibility for multiple civic uses in a new heart for the town. The form and materiality are derived from Dumbarton's shipbuilding heritage while the treatment of the existing facades references the colours and textures of the historic 'Artisan' glassmaking industry. 🌍 Layering and densifying uses in urban centres, 💡 Stewardship and resilience in managing the future of retail assets, 👨👩👧👦 Raising the bar with stakeholder and community co-design and brief creation. As STP Partners, Threesixty were exhibiting and participating in Scotland's Towns Partnership #STC24 Annual Conference this week. Gina Colley and Stefano Faiella had many engaging conversations with delegates on the themes above. We were particularly inspired by the keynote speaker Maria Jaakkola who delivered a compelling and poetic 'love letter' to Helsinki! Thank you to all the organisers for a fantastic day. A landmark and a legacy. Great to see The Port of Leith Distillery featured in this year’s Leith Annual – the article explains how the building has become a striking new addition to the Leith skyline – in design and distilling alike. If you're interested you can purchase a copy of the 2024 annual here: https://lnkd.in/eWBv39rR
