Today’s Supporting Independent Media Through Global Partnerships conference hosted by the European Commission INTPA's Gender Equality, Human Rights, Democratic Governance (G1) unit served as a forum in which to formally launch the start of the Advancing Global Innovation and Learning Effectively to Build Resilience in Independent Media (AGILE) project -- the first major specific grant awarded under the new Thematic Framework Partnership Agreement for Human Rights and Democracy between the consortium led by Internews Europe and the European Union 🚀 Speaking at the event, Meera Selva, Internews Europe CEO, said: "We are navigating an increasingly polarized and mistrustful environment, where journalists face attacks from governments, politicians, and society at large. A healthy information environment requires good information, safe access to it, a plurality of voices, and the protection of those who provide it, be they journalists, statisticians, or artists. To build a resilient media ecosystem, we need global knowledge-sharing networks, driven not from Brussels or London, but from solutions crafted by those on the frontlines of journalism." With thanks to Internews’ consortium partners CFI, agence française de développement médias, ARTICLE 19, Fojo Media Institute, and the Thomson Foundation 🤝 A statement from Internews Europe and its consortium partners on this new initiative can be found 👉 https://bit.ly/4ijJxTL
