Does our brain have its own microbiome? 🧠🦠 We know that gut bacteria influence our digestion, immunity, and even our mood. But what about the brain? Could it have its own community of bacteria shaping our health? Recent research has uncovered traces of bacterial DNA in brain tissue, raising fascinating questions: 🔍 How do these bacteria get into the brain? 🔍 Are they harmful intruders or helpful allies in brain health? Although the science is still emerging, early studies suggest a potential link between these microbes and neurological diseases. While much is yet to be understood, one thing is clear — the gut-brain connection is a powerful communication axis in our body, and this discovery could deepen its significance. We've recently reviewed the UK Government's new restrictions on high fat, sugar, and salt (HFSS) advertising. While this represents a pivotal step in tackling childhood obesity and reducing diet-related illnesses, achieving lasting impact will require further refinement of the policy. ✨ The Nutrient Profiling Model needs updating to ensure nutrient-dense foods, such as fortified yoghurts or variations of porridge, are not unfairly penalised. ✨ Outdoor advertising remains a significant gap, with children still being exposed to unhealthy food marketing daily. ✨ Systemic barriers to healthy eating, including affordability and accessibility, must be addressed alongside advertising restrictions. In our full response, we provide actionable, evidence-based recommendations to ensure this policy is fair, effective, and impactful—creating environments where healthier choices are the easier choices. 💡 Read our full response here: https://lnkd.in/emTqqQpC Response led by our Registered Nutritionist, Melanie Wilkinson RNutr

✨ Celebrating 40 Years of Impact: The Science Behind Nutrition ✨ Last night, we gathered at The Conduit London, to celebrate 40 years of Think Through Nutrition with an inspiring event: "The Science Behind Nutrition - Unlocking Brain Health and Boosting Performance". Hosted by our Patron Dame Prue Leith DBE and moderated by the brilliant Kimberley Wilson, our panel of experts delved into the powerful connection between nutrition, brain health, and resilience. Together with our Chair Frances Jackson and panellists, Tahani Saridar, Professor John Stein, and Caroline Turner-Inskip, we explored how nutrition impacts everything from workplace productivity to mental health and community resilience. We were especially excited to share insights into our LANAH platform, which is launching now, offering an evidence-based tool to make brain health and well-being more accessible across various settings. Thank you to everyone who attended, engaged, and supported us in our mission to empower people through better nutrition. A special thank you goes to our co-hosts Frances Jackson and Dame Prue Leith for setting the stage for an impactful evening, and to Kimberley Wilson, for her thoughtful moderation. We would also like to extend our gratitude to our Trustees Alice Parshall, Francesca Findlater OBE, Hilary Gal, Jeremy Marlow, Roger Drage, and Suzy Dymond-White, and the three wonderful panellists Tahani Saridar, Professor John Stein, and Caroline Turner-Inskip. 🧠It’s World Mental Health Day, and this year’s theme is “Mental Health in the Workplace”. 💼 Work-related burnout caused by stress costs the UK economy a staggering £28 billion each year. But behind these numbers are real people—colleagues, friends, and family members—struggling to cope with the pressures of work and daily life. Mental health challenges can feel isolating and overwhelming. It’s not just about feeling “stressed” or “tired”—it’s the physical toll on our bodies, the impact on relationships, and the difficulty of managing day-to-day responsibilities. Yet, despite being the fifth most common reason for sickness absence, mental health is often not given the same attention as physical health in the workplace. At Think Through Nutrition, we help businesses support employee mental health by integrating evidence-based nutrition strategies that fuel cognitive function and emotional well-being. Through our Fuel Your Workforce programme, we provide tailored workshops, consultancy, and resources that empower employees to prioritise their health through nutrition and lifestyle changes. Small improvements in diet and daily habits can have a profound impact on mood, energy, and resilience—creating healthier and more productive workplaces. Let’s raise awareness and remind everyone that they are not alone. Whether it’s reaching out to a colleague, prioritising self-care, nourishing your body with wholesome foods, or making small changes to your daily routine—every step you take towards supporting your mental well-being matters. 🔍 Our team is continuously working on resources to bridge the gap between mental well-being and physical health, with a focus on nutrition and lifestyle strategies that support mental resilience. Stay tuned for more! #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAwareness #Stress #EmployeeWellbeing #Nutrition #MentalHealthMatters
