We are excited to announce that, starting on February 19th, we will offer British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 and Level 2 courses! We have courses scheduled until the end of the year, so you can book as far in advance as you wish! Our courses will be taught by our lovely deaf teaching team, who have a combined experience of over 50 years. This is the only course in Plymouth taught by deaf, native BSL users. There is a lot that goes into prepping for a captioned show. The preparation can begin months before the show, and will continue right up until the day of the performance! 🌟 Once the team receives a copy of the script, they will begin to format it, ensuring all the character's names are included and that each line of text fits on the screen. 🌟 Once the initial script formatting is complete, they will run through the captions alongside a recorded copy of the show. It is during this stage that they can add any sound effects and music into the captions. 🌟 Once they are sure everything is included in the captions, they will run through the captions and the recording over and over and over... and over again to ensure the tempo of the captions matches the tempo of the show. 🌟 Then there will be a meeting between the captioning team who will watch the show and the captions to make sure everything matches, and make any final tweaks. 🌟 Then it is ready to go out to the world! As you can see, it is a long process that takes a lot of time and attention from our fantastic captioning team.
