Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK and a real highlight of this year has been our incubator programme, The Innovation Lab, which we launched earlier this year in collaboration with SuperTech WM and STEAMhouse. Back in January we invited eight fintech organisations to solve real-life data led challenges effecting the financial services sector. Following 17 weeks of collaboration, we trialled four innovative solutions with customers via the myCreation app. This is just one example of our deep commitment to accelerating innovation within our business and across the financial services sector. We look forward to continuing the Innovation Lab programme in 2025 and exploring a new business challenge!💡 Read more about our Innovation Lab 👉 https://lnkd.in/eEsBF9i2 #2024Highlights #Innovation #InnovationLab

  • Our very own Head of Service Innovation and Experimentation Patrick (Pad) Bek has just been featured in Startups Magazine on how startup leaders can ensure their mission is in everything they do as a startup. Having your company's vision running through everything you do is like having a guiding star. It keeps everyone on track and excited about the journey. And when everyone knows the big picture and how their little piece fits in, they feel more connected and motivated. • We're really proud to be supporting this initiative to make food and farming more representative with Josh Payne and the NFU (National Farmers' Union)! The Challenge Event in January is already shaping up to be a tool for meaningful, long-lasting positive change.

Chief Education Manager at NFU (National Farmers' Union)

A unique new initiative is under way to make food and farming more representative in the future and I'm thrilled to be involved and tell you more. The NFU (National Farmers' Union) is launching long term programme to attract racially diverse young people into food and farming. Next year we embark on AgriFuture a 5 year programme looking at working with minority ethnic students aged 14 -18 to give them the building blocks of a successful career in Agriculture. Sharing views, experiences, landscapes like the beautiful one above (thanks for the ride Matt Smith and Natalie Jackson!) as well as practical skills, resilience building and equitable access to the industry through high quality mentoring and coaching. Diversity and Equity within our industry is something me and Jennie Devine have discussed at length for as long as I can remember. I came into the agricultural sector from the engineering sector 7 years ago and the contrast, even at that point, to how each sector approached both DEI and workforce was stark. I’m not saying engineering has all the answers by any stretch but people talked openly about the challenge of recruiting a diverse workforce, it was on the agenda. Around 4 years ago I met Navaratnam Partheeban OBE he was starting to put the building blocks of how this challenge affects our industry and to start healthy positive conversation. The next logical step after conversation is action, something that he has done brilliantly with the new AgDiversity course. I did it recently, it’s excellent go and do it! I think that action though is often the hardest step to take. It’s scary and quite frankly can feel like a monumental challenge to take up but to quote a previous US president ‘Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.’ I also think that the education space is absolutely the catalytic space where we can make huge impact. The impact will not be immediate but by taking a long-term approach we have an opportunity for meaningful, long lasting change. It’s rare I share on LinkedIn (I am planning to do more though!), but I need to stop keeping a lid on this project and would love you to come along on the journey. If the idea of making positive change resonates with you I’d love to chat more we’re running a ‘challenge day’ on the 30th January at STEAMhouse in Birmingham. Drop me a message on here or email us (address in the comments)
