The Veteran Friendly Framework is now on LinkedIn 💜 Head over to the page and follow the #VFF team to keep up with the project and how it develops in 2025!
Designed for use in residential settings for older people, the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) helps care providers to offer appropriate support for the thousands of veterans living in care homes across England. The Framework supports providers in identifying veterans and their wellbeing needs, addressing social isolation, and signposting statutory and charitable services. It consists of eight standards which staff are supported to meet to achieve their VFF status. Each of these standards is accompanied by a set of resources that help care homes to demonstrate their achievements. To find out more or to start your journey to achieving the Veteran Friendly Framework status, please visit: https://lnkd.in/eExdpShV #VeteranFriendlyFramework #VFF

Royal Star & Garter reposted this
Today, we’re sharing three inspiring stories from Royal Star & Garter: WWII veteran Ken Pusey, now 98, reflects on how a coin toss saved his life during a deadly Nazi rocket attack. Army vet Bob Sewell, 89, recalls cooking Christmas dinner for 200 soldiers in South Korea using a makeshift oven. And in a vibrant fashion show to celebrate London Fashion Week, former Chanel model Carolyn and 105-year-old WWII veteran Kay, a fashion photographer, took to the catwalk, proving beauty and glamour are timeless. #HighWycombe resident and #Army veteran Ken, shared his story of how a pint of Guinness and the flip of a coin might have saved his life. Whilst stationed in Antwerp, Belgium in 1944, Ken and his comrades were presented with two choices: visit the local cinema or a new NAAFI (Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes), selling draught Guinness for thruppence a pint. Ken remembered “We didn’t know what to do so we tossed a coin. It came down tails and we went to the club. After an hour or so we heard an enormous explosion. We thought ‘what the hell is that?” The Cinema took a direct hit from a Nazi V2 rocket. Over 1,000 people were inside the venue, and it killed 567, including 296 Allied service personnel. It was the most deadly rocket attack of the war. Read more and watch Ken's video here: bit.ly/KensLuckyEscape
