SGN publishes its RIIO-GD3 Business Plan Today we’ve published our GD3 business plan covering the next five-year regulatory period starting in April 2026. It sets out our ambitious multi-billion-pound plan to invest in Scotland and southern England to ensure the efficient operation of a safe and reliable energy network into the 2030s. We are committing to making SGN a leader in safety, value for money and customer service. The five years covered by this price control will be critical for the UK’s decarbonisation plans, including the Government’s ambition to achieve clean power by 2030. We will play our part – utilising our modern network – in a fair and affordable energy transition while investing in the technology and the people required to deliver this. David Garner, Director of Safety at Cadent was happy to take part in the BBC Morning Live’s special investigation into energy theft this morning. David said, “We were happy to help with the special investigation, as energy theft is something we are very concerned about and we want to raise awareness of the dangers of this crime. Our CEO Simon Kilonback has been reflecting on a busy start in his new role: "A terrific first week as CEO at SGN. Insightful meetings, inspiring conversations and some great operational visits to our projects.   "In Scotland I was delighted to meet the major projects team rebuilding and future-proofing key energy infrastructure at Provan which supplies thousands of households and businesses in Glasgow.   "I also spent time with our one of many frontline teams repairing a gas main. It is work we do day in, day out, across our Scotland and Southern regions to ensure the reliable operation of our network and to support communities by keeping everyone safe and warm.   "SGN is part of the UK's critical national infrastructure, providing resilience as the energy system evolves.   "I am truly honoured to work alongside so many talented and dedicated people and to lead such an important business."

Around six million unpaid carers in the UK struggle with the cost of living, which has a negative impact on their own health and wellbeing as well as those they look after. We're partnering with Carers Trust and the other on the gas distribution networks (Cadent Gas Limited, Northern Gas Networks and Wales & West Utilities) on our Carer Money Matters programme. We’re delighted to reach another key milestone for H100 Fife, by completing construction of the world’s first domestic green gas network in Levenmouth. The 8.4km network will deliver green hydrogen to homes taking part in the trial next year, enabling residents to heat and cook with zero-carbon emissions. To ensure our business plan meets the needs of our customers and stakeholders, we carried out our most extensive programme of engagement to date. We're really pleased to share that our customer research programme has been shortlisted in the Market Research Society (MRS) Awards 2024, which take place on Monday. Special thanks to our research partner STRAT7 Jigsaw, our Independent Stakeholder Group and our research team: Ged Egan, Denise May and Nick Wales. Our innovative research programme included two large-scale deliberative engagements, quantitative surveys and an online panel.

⚽ We're teaming up with SPFL Trust to support people in Scotland living in fuel poverty. The Game Energy initiative will use the power and reach of football to share vital information and provide resources related to energy efficiency, Carbon Monoxide safety and access to the Priority Services Register (PSR). We'll also be establishing community hubs in high-need areas, modelled on the brilliant work of Pittodrie Community Pittodrie Community Hub at Aberdeen FC Community Trust.
