SGN publishes its RIIO-GD3 Business Plan Today we’ve published our GD3 business plan covering the next five-year regulatory period starting in April 2026. It sets out our ambitious multi-billion-pound plan to invest in Scotland and southern England to ensure the efficient operation of a safe and reliable energy network into the 2030s. We are committing to making SGN a leader in safety, value for money and customer service. The five years covered by this price control will be critical for the UK’s decarbonisation plans, including the Government’s ambition to achieve clean power by 2030. We will play our part – utilising our modern network – in a fair and affordable energy transition while investing in the technology and the people required to deliver this. About us
SGN manages the network which distributes natural and green gas to approximately six million homes and businesses across Scotland and southern England. Our pipes deliver gas safely, reliably and efficiently to each of these customers. Our people are the heart of our business. We employ around 4,000 people who are dedicated to keeping our customers safe and warm by leading the way in energy delivery. Emergency: We provide the National Gas Emergency Service day and night. We’ll always make the situation safe whether the gas emergency is inside or outside a property. Connect: Every year, we connect around 20,000 customers to our network and we help thousands of our most vulnerable customers heat their homes for less. Upgrade: We’re committed to upgrading our network and we use the latest technology as we replace, renew and maintain our pipes. We’re constantly innovating to ensure a safe, secure and sustainable future for our network. Visit our website or follow us on social media to find out more about how we keep our customers safe and warm all day, every day.

David Garner, Director of Safety at Cadent was happy to take part in the BBC Morning Live’s special investigation into energy theft this morning. David said, “We were happy to help with the special investigation, as energy theft is something we are very concerned about and we want to raise awareness of the dangers of this crime. To view the special investigation, check out this morning’s BBC Morning Live programme - https://ow.ly/L3aN50UsfRw David continues, “The theft of energy is not a victimless crime. It costs us all around £50 a year on our energy bills. “If people are struggling to pay bills they should contact their energy supplier, or Stay Energy Safe or Cadent’s Centre’s for Warmth for more information.” https://ow.ly/Q1xe50UsfRz Pictured - David Garner, Cadent’s Director of Safety with presenter Zara McDermot https://ow.ly/TsYo50UsfRv https://ow.ly/c7gq50UsfRx https://ow.ly/xqIz50UsfRy

Our CEO Simon Kilonback has been reflecting on a busy start in his new role: "A terrific first week as CEO at SGN. Insightful meetings, inspiring conversations and some great operational visits to our projects. "In Scotland I was delighted to meet the major projects team rebuilding and future-proofing key energy infrastructure at Provan which supplies thousands of households and businesses in Glasgow. "I also spent time with our one of many frontline teams repairing a gas main. It is work we do day in, day out, across our Scotland and Southern regions to ensure the reliable operation of our network and to support communities by keeping everyone safe and warm. "SGN is part of the UK's critical national infrastructure, providing resilience as the energy system evolves. "I am truly honoured to work alongside so many talented and dedicated people and to lead such an important business."

Robots aren't just for science fiction. We use them to find gas leaks and fix them. One of our senior engineers, Simon Patient, explains here how we're driving smarter, more efficient and sustainable networks - chalking up two UK firsts along the way.
At SGN, we want our networks to be the best they can today but also adaptable to the needs of tomorrow. We are driving smarter, more efficient and sustainable networks now, while also exploring new technologies and possibilities to reimagine the future of our sector. With that in mind, it was brilliant to be involved in some exciting engineering successes recently which resulted in a double UK first for our business. You can read more in my blog below.
