The team at Screwfix Midsomer Norton smashed their targets in The Screwfix Foundation’s summer raffle and as a result, The Foundation gave them the opportunity to nominate a local charity to receive an £1000 donation. They chose Move the Mind Foundation, near Radstock. Move the Mind foundation helps children with autism and other neuro cognitive conditions to heal sensory dysfunction, and to gain direct communication skills. The charity have used the donation to create a fully insulated kitchen & staff room for the volunteers and children to use on the farm. 🙂 Sam Clark Store Manager said: ‘It was an incredibly rewarding experience being able to observe first hand the great work the charity are doing and how our donation is helping them to help others in our local community’ 👏 Well done to team Radstock and thank you to all of our colleagues and customers for taking part in the Raffle! Today we're announcing our new science-based emissions reduction targets, as part of the next stage of our Net Zero Climate Plan.    We're aiming to reach Net Zero across our own operations (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2040, and across the lifecycle of our products (Scope 3) by 2050.   By 2030 we're also aiming to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 68% and Scope 3 emissions by 46%, building on our strong progress to date.     So how are we going to get there? Last week marked the end of another successful Head Office & Customer Service Centre fundraising week for The Screwfix Foundation!   We raised a massive £6,464, which will be pound matched taking the total to £12,928!   A huge thank you to all of our colleagues who got involved or donated. Did you know that… * 40% of men will not talk about their mental health? * 1 in 8 people diagnosed with a Mental Health condition are men? * 3 out of 4 suicides in the UK are male? * Two - thirds of homeless people in the UK are men? * Every 45 minutes a man dies in the UK from Prostate Cancer? * 75% of premature deaths through heart disease are in men? Today, Adam Dance the recently appointed MP of Yeovil visited our Screwfix Head Office and Contact Centre and the teams did a fab job of sharing what we do here at Screwfix.   It was also great to spend time discussing the massive trade skills shortage facing the UK and just how rewarding a career in the trade can be.   I’m excited that Adam will be sponsoring a Screwfix & Kingfisher plc event at the House of Commons in a few weeks’ time. To close out Black History Month, our Inclusion and Diversity Manager Llaura-Lee Hughes GMBPsS PPABP hosted a powerful discussion with panellists, including our own colleagues alongside multi-award-winning Equality Specialist Louise Ndibwirende.   Louise shared insights on building inclusive workplaces and community, while Lucie Cooke, Senior Resourcing Manager, highlighted our outreach initiatives. Trade Sales Manager Rhiess Phipps reflected on his growth through the Ethnic Future Leaders Programme, and Jasia Lecointe, Trading Assistant, spoke about the benefits of being part of Screwfix’s Black Employee Networking Community and wider Networks across Screwfix.   This panel not only celebrated Black History Month but emphasised our commitment to ongoing learning, allyship and inclusion here at Screwfix. #lifeatscrewfix #screwfix #blackhistorymonth #makemoreofyourself

Last week, as part of Black History Month, our South Division ran a Black Employee Career and Apprenticeship event, open to any sales assistants, supervisors and assistant store managers from the Black community that wanted to know more about building a career at Screwfix. Colleagues shared their own personal career journeys and what it's like being on our internal development programmes, they talked about having sponsors who helped them navigate their own careers as well as sharing advice for those in the room interested in exploring a career with us and offered mentoring opportunities to their colleagues. Colleen, Apprenticeship Programme Manager shared an insight into what support is available for colleagues wishing to enrol onto our apprenticeship programmes and then the group enjoyed a networking lunch where colleagues could find out more from the guest speakers and their colleagues!
