Community Champions Celebration ❤ Last week, young people from all of our Community Champions schools came to the stadium to celebrate their achievements over first term of the school year! Community Champions places a Saints Foundation member of staff in 9 local secondary schools to help pupils who may struggle in a traditional classroom setting reach their full potential. 🎉 What a treat! Last week, players from Southampton FC brought some festive cheer to our medicine for older people (MOP) ward at UHS. ⚽❤️ Premier League stars Joe Lumley, Ryan Manning, and Ben Brereton-Diaz surprised patients, chatting with lifelong Saints fans, signing autographs, and even joining in on activities in the ward’s gym. ✨ The visit highlighted the incredible Falls Recovery Programme, a partnership between Saints Foundation, Southampton Hospitals Charity and UHS. This innovative project helps older adults build strength, balance, and mobility - starting right here on the ward with bedside exercises, group activities, and even virtual reality (VR) games. With the support of Jake Batchelor, a Saints Foundation exercise practitioner, this programme has been helping patients recover faster and regain independence. 💪 Jake said: “Seeing patients leave the hospital sooner and more confident is something I’m really proud of.” 🙌 We’re so grateful to SHC, Southampton Football Club, Saints Foundation and everyone who makes this programme possible. Saints Share the Joy 😇 Last week, Southampton Football Club men's first team players were all over the city sharing the joy throughout our community meeting our participants from Staplewood to St Mary's to University Hospital Southampton NHS FT ❤️ Yuki Sugawara took up archery at our Premier League Inspires and Premier League Stars SEND Festival at Staplewood Training Ground, while Joe Lumley, Ryan Manning, and Ben Brereton Diaz visited our Falls Recovery participants in Southampton General Hospital Medicine for Older People Unit. Gavin Bazunu visited our Saints by your Side men's mental health group, while Ronnie Edwards joined a Saints Switching Play mentoring session in the Players Lounge, and Charlie Taylor gave a behind the scenes tour of the stadium with our Advantage Talking Tactics Programme, our young peoples mental health project. Sharing the Joy across Southampton ❤️ Saints Foundation Christmas elves were hard at work delivering the fantastic gifts generously donated by our sponsor P&O Cruises. As well as presents collected from Carnival UK (P&O Cruises & Cunard) that were donated by P&O Cruises staff, Southampton Football Club staff also donated to the collection. The sacks full of presents were split between all 15 of our projects so many of our participants, who might not otherwise receive gifts this year, will feel valued this Christmas.
