A typically understated and low-key last day for the positive energy machine that is Ruby Charlotte Deans! The party planners have been working overdrive to make this one as iconic and unique as Ruby herself.

November 13th saw Republic of Media hosting secondary pupils from schools in Edinburgh and Manchester as part of the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) Advertising Unlocked initiative. This is quickly becoming one of our favourite days of the year as we watch a bunch of teenagers go from being slightly bored and maybe a little suspicious to energised, engaged and excited by a career in advertising and media. This is particularly important as we seek to attract talent from less privileged areas that still under-index in senior roles in our industry. Lovely to hear from the teachers at Penketh High School in Warrington: “Thank you so much for hosting us and your kind words about the students. They were all raving about it on the way back so please pass on my thanks to all the staff at Republic of Media as I said the passion and enthusiasm for the industry really shone through from all involved.” The day, whilst hugely rewarding, takes a lot of work and organisation both in the background and on the day - so thank you to our media partners Crimtan ITV Media and Global and our staff including Lauren C. We were proud to be a sponsor of the Bloom Scotland event this week in Edinburgh, and delighted that several The Freethinking Group and Republic of Media staff were on stage to talk about topics related to periods, menopause and navigating difficult conversations within workplaces. But we're perhaps proudest of all that Republic of Media Business Director Claire Mathieson has been chosen as incoming President of Bloom Scotland for 25-26. We have no doubt she'll do a fantastic job supporting the women in comms and marketing in Scotland alongside Bloom UK. There’s still time to grab your ticket for this year’s free panel event, Bloom Scotland x TaBOO Topics 👻 🎃 Sponsored by Republic of Media & JCDecaux UK, TaBOO Topics x Bloom Scotland will be held on Thursday 31st October at 9am-12pm at YOTEL Edinburgh. ⚡️ Caris Brett from IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) will be sharing a keynote speech ahead of our panel discussion. Our panel will discuss all those niggly, difficult ‘taboo’ subjects and how best to tackle the things that scare us that are often left in the shadows…. 👻 🎟️ Last year’s panel event was a sell out so don’t miss out on the chance to get your ticket: https://shorturl.at/F5RAU 📸 Pics of last year’s event captured by the talented Anna Moffat.

Absolutely agree with this article (link in comments), but what it doesn't address is brand-suitability. Whilst quality news content is brand-safe & advertisers should help fund it, a bespoke suitability approach needs to be taken for every advertiser - as not all news content is SUITABLE for every brand. Brand-safety is a hygeine factor, that's it. Brand-suitability should be a collaborative approach between clients & agencies, with a finalised approach passed to any trading desk or publisher prior to activation. Coincidentally I'm on a PubMatic panel next Thursday in Manchester on a topic close to this. Shout if you'd like a ticket.
