Following the results of our annual public vote, we are pleased to announce that our 2025 Charity of the Year is… The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance 🚁 The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance brings the hospital to the patient. Its highly skilled teams of doctors, dispatchers, pilots and paramedics respond to an average of five patients every day - be it a cardiac arrest, a road traffic collision or a serious medical episode. The charity has responded to almost 2,500 emergency callouts this year alone, and more than 20,000 in its 17-year history. Each mission is funded entirely by the kindness and generosity from people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight as the charity does not receive government funding.🤝 HIOWAA held our Charity of the Year title in 2017, and now eight years later, they will be our very first repeat Charity of the Year.🤩 Together with the support of our colleagues and customers we look forward to supporting Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and the vital work they do for our community.👏 #CharityoftheYear #COTY #IsleofWight #IOW #RedFunnel #Charity #HIOWAA

Captain Ted Funnel had great fun at the launch of Godshill Play Park on Sunday. “A fun place for all”, this brand-new play park is home to the Island’s very first wheelchair swing, as well as other accessible equipment, sensory activities, bike and scooter racks and plenty of space to run around! There’s also a fenced area for under 5's.🚲 Nine years in the making, we were delighted to support local fundraiser and park project manager Nikki Collinson Phoenix in bringing the apparatus and surfacing needed for the play area over to the Island to make this special park a reality.🚢 We hope Island children will enjoy Godshill Play Park for many years to come. Our CEO Fran met with the Foodbank to share the news. 🤝 As part of their ongoing efforts, the Isle of Wight Foodbank is inviting everyone to join their Reverse Advent Calendar initiative throughout November. NATIONAL STEM DAY 📈 #NationalSTEMDay promotes and celebrates careers within Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and we’re proud to offer successful career pathways within STEM. Our onboard engineers, IT gurus and finance team all fall within the STEM fields, and we’re especially passionate about helping to grow these careers with training and apprenticeships.🚢 This is Conor, our Commercial Accountant, who is currently working through the ‘L7 Accountancy or Taxation Professional Apprenticeship Standard (CIMA)’. Conor has been with Red Funnel for just over a year and once he has successfully completed his apprenticeship, he will become a ‘Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA)’.🧑💻 On his apprenticeship and career in STEM, Conor said: “Accounting was something I became interested in at university, on my Business and Management degree. I always found the accounting and finance topics suited me more and it was something I wanted to pursue further after my course.”💬 We asked Conor, what are the top 3 things you enjoy most about your apprenticeship? ✅ The team that I work with, they always provide me with the support I need and always help to develop my skills. ✅ Being able to optimise a process to make it more efficient, especially month end tasks as this allows me to save time and make deadlines more achievable. ✅ The fact my apprenticeship goes hand in hand with my role, the knowledge I gain from my lessons apply to my day to day work which has helped me to have a greater understanding in my role. We have an exciting opportunity for a ‘Talent Attraction and Development Specialist’ to join our HR team on a 1-year fixed term (maternity cover) basis, playing a vital role in attracting, hiring, and nurturing top talent at Red Funnel. In this rewarding role you will lead both the HR team's talent attraction and development efforts, ensuring we build resilience into our operation through people opportunities, and support their growth throughout the colleague life cycle at Red Funnel. As part of the role, you will manage all talent attraction processes, collaborate with a broad mix of teams, conduct regular audits and talent reviews, work with the wider HR team to co-ordinate and deliver effective training interventions and design and support the wider HR team for all onboarding and induction initiatives. We’re looking for someone with experience in Recruitment and/or Learning and Development with great people skills and adaptability. You’ll be working Monday – Friday and the role is based at our head office in Southampton, however you will have the opportunity for hybrid working; being able to work at other locations around the organisation and at home also.
