#ECOMONDO is the event to be at this week! I am at this 4-day event in Italy to explore the current and aspired status of #circularity and #textiles. For our #ReDress program from Reconomy, Reverse Logistics Group (RLG) is exhibiting at this event. I join them from ReBound to share our combined services with the market and find new potential partners to thrive with and accelerate our operational network for handling used textiles in the EU. I just joined an interesting session on the status of the Italian textile market of collection, reuse and recycling (all spoken in Italian, so quite a workout for me). By 2030, we aim to achieve a 𝟱𝟬% 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗹 — an ambitious goal we’re committed to reaching through innovative, sustainable practices. 🔋 To track our progress, we’ve developed a 𝗖𝗢𝟮 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 tailored to our network. This tool measures emissions per parcel, per quarter, allowing us to monitor our journey and compare with our 2019 baseline for Rebound. 🚛 From embracing 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 and 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗛𝗩𝗢 to expanding our 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, we’re exploring every pathway to drive down emissions and reduce environmental impact. Recently our specialist brand, ReBound, produced a white paper on the carbon impact of retail returns. Through research with retailers, carriers, and shoppers, we uncovered key insights: 🔄 73% of shoppers are willing to pay for sustainable return shipping, though most would cap it at around £/$/€3. 🔄 53% of shoppers believe retailers should offer sustainable return options, while 29% see it as the carrier’s responsibility. 🔄 62% of brands and retailers are ready to invest in environmentally friendly return options. 🔄 44% of the carriers in our network are considered sustainable, with 77% operating electric vans. These findings are a wake-up call for the retail industry to prioritise sustainability, especially when it comes to returns. The future of retail lies in reducing carbon footprints and embracing circular solutions.
