I am a huge fan of anything that uses bin lorries as a platform for data collection. After all, what other vehicle sees so much of the nooks and crannies of our local road network on such a consistent basis? Anything that tells us more about the simply inadequate state of mobile connectivity on our roads is important. But there is something odd to me about this story from Norfolk - Ofcom is already mapping exactly this sort of thing (https://api.ofcom.org.uk/). While I'm here I'd like to say thank you to the RAC Foundation for hosting their Winter Reception. An organisation that does a superb job of supporting innovative transport research with partners like LSE Cities, TRL, Agilysis Limited and many others. Nice to see some familiar faces like Kate Carpenter, Tom Leggett, James Evans, Bruce Walton, Dr Scott R. Fox, Bhavin Makwana, Dr Suzy Charman, Nick Reed, Jamie Hassall, Elizabeth Box, Ivo Wengraf, Victoria Pyta, Emma Kelly MBA BA (hons), even if I didn't get a chance to catch up with you all!
