What does Pip & Nut have in common with Wonderwall, Love Story and Fairytale of New York? 🤔 Yes, you guessed it. They all hit the number 2 spot here in the UK! And whilst we're talking about our achievements in the Peanut Butter category, not the UK singles chart, we're pretty damn proud to say that Pip & Nut is officially the UK's number 2 nut butter brand* 🥳 From Pip's market stall to selling over 5.5 million jars & tubs in the last year alone. It's been quite the journey. A huge thanks to all our fans, retailers, agencies, partners & of course, Chief Squirrel Pip Murray (she/her) and our team at The Nest 🐿️ No.1, we’re coming for you... *Neilson EPOS, Total Nut Butter, 52WE 05.10.24

This is Kitty & her Dad, Nicky, a transgender woman. Three years ago off the back of their own experience they set up a charity called NutshellMHS. Their charity offers mental health support for the family members of trans and non binary people. We were lucky to have them talk to our team & the whole JEDI MATTERS Collective about their journey. Nicky shared her experience of transitioning, telling her family & friends & Kitty, her own response & path supporting her Dad. Both shined a light on the critical role that family & friends play in helping people going through a similar transition. What we learnt? 🏡 Family members need support alongside those who are transitioning and having access to talking therapies can be a powerful tool to enable someone to process everything. Therapy for family members isn't available on the NHS, Nutshell exists to fund this important therapy. 🚉 The idea of the "trans train" - every trans person is on a different person journey and those with gender dysphoria who decide to transition will stop at different points. The idea of the 'trans train' was an analogy that helped Nicky explain what stop she felt was right for her. 💚 “I am here for you” - when coming out to friends and family people can sometimes find it hard to know what to say. It's better to communicate with a simple response like this, than go silent. ⭕ That the telling of lived experience is a powerful medium for learning & recognising no journey is the same. You never know who in your organisation may be supporting a loved one through this. Thank you Nicky & Kitty for sharing your story. Link to Nutshell in the comments. #transgenderawarenessweek

You might assume everyone in the UK would jump at the chance to sell Pip & Nut. Not quite. The journey of Pip blitzing peanuts in her North London kitchen, to being found on the shelves of your favourite shops, wasn't quite as smooth as our nut butters suggest. Listen to Pip tell all on BBC Radio 4's 'The Bottom Line'… 📻🎙️🥜
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬/𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞/𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐭... This week I sat down with the BBC to speak on Radio 4's The Bottom Line with Evan Davis to chat about what makes a business idea live or die. Here are my 3 bits of advice: 💭 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓 - however small, even if it's very basic, the act of getting an idea out of your head into the world is often the hardest part of any start up journey. People often worry too much about the risk, the failure, the 'what if's' but at this stage it's just a small experiment. Take the pressure off by making small steps. 💭 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐁𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄, 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐎 𝐈𝐓 - I can not tell you how many times when I first started speaking to people in the industry about Pip & Nut | B Corp that I had to nod along in the meeting and then go and google the word/acronym after (RSV - what? MOQ- huh?). Those first meetings will be awkward, especially if you're not from the industry, and it's just part of the course. At some point you'll start to notice that it does make sense, until that point you just have to push through it. 💭 𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐏 𝐆𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐋 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐀 𝐘𝐄𝐒 - every no you get should spur you on as it means you're one step closer to getting to that yes. Don't take it as rejection, just another bit of information or learning to take into your next conversation when you're starting out. Have a listen to the full episode for more advice from me, Rob Law MBE inventor of the Trunki (Heroes Group) inventor and Tom Pellereau, of Stylefiles on BBC sounds now. Link below.

Pip & Nut for People + the Planet 🌍🐿️🌱 Last week we all got together to review our big wins and progress on sustainability projects. To kick things off, we had a discussion with Tom Tapper, CEO of Nice and Serious, on how brands can successfully share sustainability-related comms in a fun, relevant and impactful way. Not ones to keep things to ourselves, here are our top three takeaways: 🌱Measure the right metrics –try tracking the number of negative/positive comments on your post to understand how people react to what you stand for, or the projects you’re working on rather than measuring reach or engagement numbers 🌱Know your consumer and what THEY find most relevant 🌱Don’t play it too safe! If the idea doesn’t make you feel a bit uncomfortable, you’re probably not being bold enough... That was topped off by a fabulous team lunch from the incredible Social Pantry. An ethical, environmentally conscious catering company in true B Corp Style 🌱🌍

⚠️CAUTION!⚠️ SQUIRREL TAKEOVER AT THE ROYAL PARKS HALF MARATHON On Sunday we sponsored the Royal Parks Half for the first time and it was epic. Big thanks to The Royal Parks and London Marathon Events for being so up for our ideas. We certainly didn't hold back: - a team of 20 runners in bespoke merch (featuring a tail of course) - a stand in the Race Village with climbing wall, squirrel face paints & nut butter smoothies - a Very Important Squirrel tent for our runners & friends of Pip & Nut, with our OG toast bar and post-race masseuse - a mega cheer point at Mile 7 with the most enthusiastic cheer squad of all time and a live brass band - an army of squirrels at the finish line and more roaming around the race course and village - a total of 40,000 peanut butter stuffed oat bars enjoyed by runners and spectators alike. We can't imagine many people would agree to be in a chilly Hyde Park at 7.30am on a Sunday, but that's exactly what the whole Pip & Nut team did. And that's why the energy was unmatched. Shout out to our brill production partners Positive Experience for bringing our vision to life. Photos by Nick Caro Modular Media®
