We are delighted to share that we now offer workplace mediation, as Kelly has completed training and is now a Certified Workplace Mediator. Over the past 18 months, Kelly has been approached multiple times to help mediate workplace conflicts, involving neurodivergent employees. Whilst he deeply understood the challenges and really wanted to help, he declined because he wasn’t trained in mediation. He discovered research indicating that a significant factor contributing to the resignation or dismissal of neurodivergent employees, is miscommunication and a lack of understanding of neurodiversity. Mediation when done by someone who is not only trained but also neurodivergent themselves, could: ✅ Bridge this gap ✅ Foster better understanding ✅ Improve team dynamics ✅ Reduce unnecessary turnover Could your team benefit from tailored workplace mediation or better support for neurodivergent employees? Get in touch today. Let’s build workplaces where everyone can thrive. #WorkplaceMediation #HR #Neurodiversity #Inclusionmatters #Leadership

We are so proud of our work with Mind. Here are some simple adjustments that can make a big difference to an autistic person like myself, at work. ➡️ Offering a quiet space at work can offer the chance for a person to decompress (autistic or not), so they can take stock of the day and recharge their batteries. ➡️ Using natural lighting in office spaces or home offices can help relax employees. It reduce stress levels and help with their circadian rhythm (natural body clock). ➡️ Making sure staff have a place to eat lunch away from their desk will really help, so people don't feel overwhelmed with smells. No-one like last night's tuna pasta bake reheated. Comment below if you'd like us to share the article we wrote for Mind. And if you want to find out more about how we can help you with supporting your neurodivergent employees at work, just drop me Kelly Grainger a DM! #Neurodiversity #NeurodiversityAtWork #HR #Autistic

Making small yet impactful changes during the interview stage can go a long way in creating a more inclusive and neurodivergent-friendly process, ensuring a truly level playing field for all candidates. Here are some practical ways to achieve that: - Provide a Clear Itinerary: Give candidates a detailed schedule of the interview, including who they’ll be meeting and how long the process will take. This can reduce anxiety and help candidates prepare better. Bonus Tip: Use visuals to map out where the office is located, who will be interviewing them, and how many people they might meet along the way. This added clarity can make a big difference! - Allow for Notes and Accommodations: Let candidates know it’s okay to bring notes to the interview. It’s also important to ask ahead of time if they need any specific accommodations to help them feel more comfortable and confident. - Stick to Clear, Experience-Based Questions: Avoid vague or hypothetical questions like, “Where do you see yourself in five years?” These can be challenging for neurodivergent individuals. Instead, focus on clear, experience-based questions that allow candidates to demonstrate their skills and qualifications in a concrete way. - Reconsider Eye Contact: Don’t evaluate candidates based on their eye contact. For many neurodivergent individuals, maintaining eye contact can be difficult and isn’t reflective of their abilities or engagement. By implementing these thoughtful adjustments, you're not only supporting neurodivergent candidates but creating a fairer, more inclusive interview process for everyone. #InclusiveHiring #NeurodiversityMatters #HR #NeurodiversityTraining

We have trained over 70 companies across the globe helping them to understand about neurodiversity in the workplace. Here's what we've been told resonates the most when we've delivered our training / workshops / keynote talks / coaching (delete as applicable!) One size doesn't fit all. Neurodiversity training benefits EVERYBODY, not just neurodivergent employees. A top down approach for acceptance works best. Reasonable adjustments don't have to cost a penny. Having a neurodivergent workforce promotes creativity, innovation and a different way of thinking. If you offer neurodiversity trainers / speakers / workshops - it will open up conversations internally. You don't need to have all the answers. It is a journey. #Neurodiversity #NeurodiversityAtWork Looking for training? We are now taking bookings for November. We have availability before that - but love that people are getting organised!

Why keep “banging on about ADHD”? (someone else’s words, not mine). This image is why. The disproportionate impact on people’s home and working lives is unnecessary. Where and how can we adjust societal barriers for neurodivergent individuals in a neurotypical world? 🗞 The Guardian's latest summary on autism and ADHD is worth a read: https://lnkd.in/gA-nhJNW Employers, check out: 💡 @drsusanyoung research https://lnkd.in/gMmEVk5s 💡 Kat Brown latest articles 💡 Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA) Articles - https://lnkd.in/gb-bnfdY 💡 Support by ADHD Works Let's support neurodivergent individuals by creating inclusive workplaces and addressing societal barriers. #adhd #inclusivity #equity #managingadhd #adhdatwork #workplace #neurodiversity

I have had a lot of messages lately from people wondering if they too have ADHD. So I thought I would share this. If you are looking at getting assessed, read about Right To Choose. Then book an appointment with your GP. Ask for an adult ADHD assessment and then you will have the right to choose where you go for it. Yes wait lists are long but get on it now. Start keeping a note of things you may do including: ❎ losing your keys/purse/wallet and how often this happens ❎times you were unable to concentrate during a meeting ❎when you’ve blurted something out you’d rather have not shared Take the list to the GP as evidence. Also include info from your childhood and school etc. Talking too much, regularly forgetting to unload the washing machine or finding some things overwhelming, like replying to emails or returning phone calls, doesn’t mean you have ADHD. People with ADHD need to show a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity–impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development. So it needs to negatively impact your life. Also you need to have had symptoms and traits since before the age of 12. It can’t be something that has just ‘appeared’. For example I was told that I couldn't have ADHD and that it was baby brain.... my children were 9 and 11 at the time! Edit thanks to Dr Alison Lennox for adding: Check your GP will accept Shared Care with your chosen right to choose provider if meds are offered (and indeed that the right to choose people offer meds and Shared Care) - before choosing who to be referred to. Also thanks to Stephanie Batey for adding trauma can bring ADHD challenges to the surface. #ADHD #ADHDCoach #ADHDSpeaker
