About us
PeacePlayers - Northern Ireland is a leader of ‘Sport for Peace’ • We believe that ‘children who play together can learn to live together.’ • We use sport, the neutral sport of basketball specifically, to unite, educate and inspire Catholic and Protestant children and young people, two historically divided traditions in Northern Ireland. Our Vision is of inspired and confident children and young people building positive relationships and promoting sustainable peace in Northern Ireland. Our Mission is to use sport to create opportunities for young leaders to promote respect and mutual understanding between the historically divided community of Northern Ireland. We have a strong track record of success • Since its foundation in 2002, PPI-NI has positively impacted the lives of over 20,000 young people, serving the most disadvantaged areas in Northern Ireland. • We have cemented our reputation as the go-to organisation for community relations and peace building through sport. • As a global organisation, our success goes beyond our borders – bridging divides, changing perceptions and developing leaders in some of the world’s most challenging conflict areas.

Last night, we were thrilled to collaborate with the US Consulate to host the American Business Celebration Dinner at Belfast’s historic Riddel Hall, in partnership with Queen's University Belfast Chief Executives' Club supported by Arthur Cox NI and Invest Northern Ireland. This event was more than a dinner – it was a powerful testament to the shared economic, social, and cultural bonds between Northern Ireland and the United States. We were joined by US Special Envoy for Economic Affairs Dr Joe Kennedy III who has advocated and helped enrich and strengthen the importance of those bonds and transatlantic partnerships. Thank you to all our collaborators, speakers and panelists that joined us for this fantastic celebration. On World Mental Health Day, PeacePlayers Northern Ireland is highlighting the importance of mental health in the workplace. This year’s theme, ‘Workplace Mental Health,’ reminds us how vital it is to support mental well-being not only for individuals but for the overall strength of our organisations and communities. With many of us spending much of our time at work—whether in the community, office, home or elsewhere—creating a positive environment matters. At PeacePlayers Northern Ireland, one of our seven Culture Statements is, 'We value and look after our staff.' We are committed to fostering a culture that prioritises mental health, ensuring a healthy and supportive space for everyone in our network. #WorldMentalHealthDay #WorkplaceMentalHealth #PeacePlayers #MentalHealthMatters
