  • The skills involved in Emotional Intelligence (EI) come more naturally to some people more than others. However, as we’ve discussed in this previous blog on the subject (https://lnkd.in/eMX9bS_T), emotional intelligence can be learned and developed, and we explore more about those key characteristics of EI now in our latest blog: (https://lnkd.in/eu2NANZv) Self-awareness, the ability to show emotion, empathy and understanding, perception, interpersonal and social skills, being a strong communicator, and being able to solve problems are all important compontents of what makes for a good leader or manager. On the flip side, when a leader is unable to manage their own emotions it can have a negative impact on their team and may create or exacerbate mental health problems in others. This can lead to low psychological safety, stress and anxiety, poor productivity and declining engagement.   • Does your employee benefits package give your business a competitive advantage? It turns out that almost 6 in 10 employees would leave their job for better benefits. A report by technology provider Zest has highlighted the role of an employee benefits package in attracting and retaining top talent in the workplace, especially in the 18-34 age bracket. Benefits such as a pension, private healthcare and retail discounts now play a significant role in an employee’s decision to join a company. Almost two-thirds of employees say benefits are important when choosing an employer and financial benefits are at the top of the list. This comes as the Association of British Insurers reveals that a record 4.7 million people in the UK are covered by private medical insurance through their employer.
