🌟 As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the incredible dedication of our staff throughout the year. 🏥 So far, 51,028 children and young people (aged 0-19) have been cared for in A&E across NHS Lothian. 👏 A massive thank you to our amazing teams for their hard work.

Designed with input from both patients and NHS staff, this website is packed with valuable resources to support patients and their families throughout their cancer journey. Whether you’re looking for information on our services, facilities, or just need reassurance before your visit, this website is here to help. We have expanded the use of text messages for our outpatient services, enabling patients to quickly and easily access electronic letters about their care. The electronic letters offer significantly increased benefits for patients through a range of functions including:  A translation service with 116 written and 55 read out loud language options  Larger text for visually impaired patients  A screen masking function which will allow customised tint of the letter on screen  A picture dictionary including symbols, for example a clock, for dementia patients.  Enhanced information to support patients getting to their appointments, including instructions on how to find clinics, as well as integration with Google Maps. A  Links to resources, providing patients with more information about their appointment or procedure. Patients will be also able to confirm whether they still need an appointment, as well as being provided with details on how to contact the relevant NHS service. This the first stage in a wider digital communication project, designed to improve patient experience, as well as support a reduction in waiting times.
