What an incredible night! 🌲 🎾 Yesterday we signed off 2024's #LovePadel Series with Festive Founder Padel at Padium, and were joined by over 100 incredible founders and partners from across the ecosystem on the court. From first-time players on their first evening playing, to seasoned pros who arrived with their own rackets ready to get straight onto Centre Court, it was great seeing so many new and familiar faces as we celebrated founders from across the UK. The evening was backed by incredible partners at First Wealth | Certified B Corp (whose reaction speed game turned out to be one of the hits of the evening!), Carta, Sheridans and Superscript, without whom these sort of events wouldn't be what they are. We’re pleased to welcome Orissa U. to the Love Ventures team as our new Client Services Associate! ✨ Orissa recently graduated from the University of York with a BSc in Economics and Finance. She has gained valuable experience through internships in mid-market tech M&A at one of the Big Four UK consultancy firms and has also worked with a financial services consultancy, providing financial and operational services to FCA-regulated firms. Outside of work, Orissa is passionate about running, exploring new languages, and discovering the best local coffee spots. As our Client Services Associate, Orissa will play a pivotal role in supporting various business functions, from ensuring our customers and partnerships are well looked after, managing investor relations to streamlining and prioritising tasks across all areas here at Love Ventures. Yesterday Love Ventures hosted an event for our B2B SaaS founders, where we delved into one of the fundamentals to sustainable unit economics: retention. 💫 A few snippets from the session: - 🔍 When ‘engineering’ retention, start with diagnostics and look for key data and insights that can give early warning signs of churn (e.g. usage patterns) before looking to acquisition, customer success and ultimately, product. - ▶️ Don’t just hold ‘exit interviews’ with customers when needed, hold ‘entry interviews' too! Use these insights to adapt your communication and product to ensure alignment with their evolving needs. - 💵 Implementation fees can be a great way to increase a customer’s commitment to your product fast when paired with value. They can incentivise both parties to invest in a smooth and timely rollout and signal that your solution is a must-have, and not just a nice-to-have. - 🌱 When onboarding customers, speed to the client’s desired outcome is important. Giving customers early visibility on milestones and expected results will set the tone for trust, accountability and a value-driven relationship. e.g. “after 30 days, you should expect x”. 📢 Investment Update 📢 We’re excited to reveal that our latest investment is into Jove Insurance, the global InsurTech platform for contractors, as part of their £3.6m Seed round. The round was led by Explorer, alongside Seed X Liechtenstein AG, Portfolio Ventures and others. This funding will enable Jove to launch the first digital borderless insurance for contractors and small businesses across UK, Europe and USA. Its AI insurance validation model enables MSPs, recruitment firms and mobility marketplaces to onboard workers and ensure insurance compliance seamlessly. Big news from the Love Ventures portfolio as Tembo announces the close of its most recent £14m fundraise. This round was led by the consumer focussed investor Goodwater, best known for backing Monzo Bank in 2017, and the funding raised will allow Tembo to accelerate its plan to scale its saving app and increase access to home-ownership.
