Henley sports fans turned out in their masses, and the rain, to cheer our incredible Olympic and Paralympic athletes at the weekend. We had composite crews (including legends from the Sydney 2000 gold-winning eight) join the current crop of Team GB athletes in a row past, followed by an open top bus tour around town, meeting the crowds, handing out cuddly toy pink hippos, then coming back to the club for a party. Thank you Henley for supporting our Leander Club athletes and their crewmates across the whole of Team GB. We're so grateful that you came out in force to support us once again this weekend. #britishrowing #teamgb #henleyonthames Photos courtesy of AllMarkOne Limited

We're so proud of the 25 Leander athletes who were selected for the Olympics. Twenty of these have returned home with medals - seven gold, four silver and nine bronze. You could say that if Leander was a country, we'd be 31st in the medals table - just below Croatia and above Cuba, Bahrain and Slovenia! We're inviting the athletes to take part in a row past (potentially the last time they will row together) and an open top bus tour around Henley, before returning to Leander for a party on 21 September. If national journalists would like to find out quite how Leander Club has racked up a staggering 156 Olympic and Paralympic medals (so far), and to meet our current athletes on 21 September, please contact me direct on [email protected] We support our athletes with exceptional training, nutrition and even lodging when needed. We're here to help all athletes with the talent and drive to succeed in this toughest of sports. Leander is a private members' club which ploughs its profits into funding these young athletes, so that they can pursue Olympic glory for Team GB. The dynamics of this sport are changing - you can interview our coaches, senior leadership and athletes to find out where it's going next.

It was great to meet the WeHoRR and HoRR winning Leander athletes last night and to celebrate their wins. 1st ever Leander Club joint WeHoRR/HoRR win at club level - rowing alumni will no doubt recall their double win in 2011 but one of those was a squad crew. These are all inspirational athletes that are exploring their post rowing career options. Massive congratulations: Abbie Topp, Amelia Standing, Charlotte Fennell, Phoebe Snowden, Juliette Perry, Philippa Emery, Daisy Bellamy, Issy Powell, and cox Henry Fieldman Matt Rowe, Dan Graham, Douwe de Graaf, Sam Bannister, Miles Beeson, Tobias Schröder, Tom Ballinger, James Vogel, and Cox Jack Tottem

GB Development Rower training out of Leander Club

This weekend I was delighted to win the GB April Trials in the men's pair. The win was the culmination of a year's worth of hard work between myself and my pairs partner and I am exceptionally proud to have overcome the obstacles we faced to come away with the top spot. This result ranks us as the top pair outside of the Olympic squad, a position which is a great step in my development as an athlete as I look to build and grow up to the LA 2028 Olympics. The intensity of the pressure this weekend was a stark reminder of the few opportunities we get to perform in this sport and the importance of making the most of them. It was yet another valuable learning experience in trying to execute your best performance under acute pressure, something that I believe we handled very well as a partnership and helped us to achieve the win. I would of course like to thank the Leander Club and the Colgan Foundation for their generosity in supporting us, allowing these sorts of performances to happen. As always the facilities, coaching and preparation were first class. Onto a fun summer of racing now with Ghent Regatta, World Rowing Cup 3 and Henley Royal Regatta fast appearing on the horizon. I'm very excited to see what it holds.
