This week, our students had an on-site visit with Kier Group PLC, the company constructing the latest building for the University of Huddersfield’s £250m National Health Innovation Campus (NHIC). Due to open in December 2025, the latest facility will be named the Emily Siddon Building after the leading healthcare advocate who spent most of her life in Honley. The state-of-the-art building will offer an array of diagnostic tests, including MRI and CT scans for the community, and smart building technologies including a live garden roof and solar technologies. The visit provided our Construction students with a valuable insight into the working of a major construction site using the latest technologies available. The students were we accompanied by Ian Hawkin, Lecturer in Construction at Kirklees College and welcomed to the site by David Wilson, Senior Project Manager for Kier Group PLC.
