REFORMS: Elected mayors are set to wield new powers over housing and planning under a government shake-up of local government. The move is proposed in a new white paper for the devolution of authority from Whitehall to local communities announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government Local Government, Angela Rayner. She aims to give regional mayors more powers over housing, transport, education and employment as well as planning. The proposals in the white paper, titled ‘Power and Partnership: Foundations for Growth’, also include the merger of areas where there are currently two tiers of local authority to create unitary authorities and the creation of strategic authorities across England. Please contact us to find out more about how these plans will affect your project or plans. #planning #housing #development #development #townplanning

DEADLINE: There are just a few days until Dorset Council UK's Call for Sites Consultation closes on Friday December 20. This is the opportunity for landowners, developers and any other stakeholder parties with legal interests in land to submit their sites to the council for consideration as part of the next Local Plan making process. It comes as the council faces pressure to deliver more housing to meet with revised targets in the recently updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). Dorset Council is prospectively to see an 81% increase in housing need to 3,230 new homes a year through the new Standard Method for calculating housing need. This will mean the need to allocate significant additional sites, alongside addressing the non-delivery of sites previously allocated by the now aged local plans of the legacy district and borough councils, within the plan period of the new Dorset Local Plan. Please contact us if you have a site that you would like to see promoted, which you consider would be suitable for development, or you would like our advice on whether it is worth promoting your land. #planning #housing #localplan

OUT TODAY: The government has said that its updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), to be published today, will force councils with out-of-date local plans to demonstrate an extra year of housing land supply. It is expected among other steps to make more land available for development and comes after consultation opened earlier this year. We will keep you updated about exactly what this means for the planning system and how it will affect your plans or project. #planningerform #NPPF #planning https://lnkd.in/gMRUvwmw
