This week, we marked an incredible milestone – 20 years of the Heathrow Employment & Skills Academy (Heathrow Academy). We were thrilled to celebrate alongside many of our partners who have been instrumental in our journey. Over the last two decades, the Heathrow Academy has been a bridge between our local community and the extraordinary careers Heathrow has to offer, and we are proud of what we have achieved in collaboration with our partners. The day was filled with several highlights: ✨ We heard inspiring stories from local young talent who’ve kickstarted their careers with the Academy and are now part of the Heathrow family. ✨ Our partners shared how working together has made a real impact on not just their business, but the people’s lives through education and employment opportunities. ✨ We celebrated 10 newly qualified apprentices from our Shared Apprenticeship Scheme – a huge achievement! ✨ And to top it all off, the wonderful Heathrow Primary School choir delivered a truly heart warming performance. We were delighted to have members of our senior leadership team, including Thomas Woldbye, Chief Executive Officer and Nigel Milton, Chief Communications and Sustainability Officer, join us for this special celebration. Their support has been invaluable to the success of the Heathrow Academy. We were also honoured to welcome Lord Blunkett, whose presence and insightful speech made the occasion even more memorable. Behind the Heathrow Academy’s success stands a dedicated team driven to deliver the best outcomes for our community - a huge thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far. Congratulations to our apprentice Jack Wells on being named New Civil Engineer's 'Apprentice of the Year' 2024! Jack's journey shows that apprentices can come from diverse backgrounds. He is a great ambassador for the Thames Water shared apprenticeship scheme, and we are all very proud of him!

Our shared apprenticeship scheme is the first of its kind in the UK utility sector – and we’re proud to celebrate the successes of our first two graduates with K10 Apprenticeships Limited!    Monique Dulai has just completed her Level 4 project management apprenticeship. She split her time between our capital delivery team and Morrison Water Services, where she’s now accepted a full-time role.    Monique says: “I’ve always been keen on apprenticeships, but due to Covid, it was difficult to secure one. After realising university wasn’t for me, I moved back home to work while applying for apprenticeships in project management. The shared apprenticeship scheme was the first of its kind I had seen, which intrigued me. I like the fact I’ve been able to learn project management in different environments.”    Ryan Chappelle has also finished his Level 4 project management apprenticeship, which saw him working on major projects at Mogden sewage treatment works before moving to the Wingrove power station project with Mott MacDonald Bentley | MMB.    “I wanted to have a career that I was proud of and that offered progression,” Ryan says. “I like assisting real projects and having a role to play in making sure they run smoothly. I’ve now accepted a new role as an assistant project manager at Thames Water, where I’ll be working on the Guildford sewage treatment works relocation.”    Congratulations to Monique and Ryan for their amazing achievements over the past couple of years! #Apprenticeship #Education

Provider Update! 🚀 We're thrilled to share that K10 Apprenticeships now has nearly 50 apprentices enrolled with M.I.T Skills across a variety of Apprenticeships! Our apprentices are gaining valuable skills in Level 3 Business, Construction Support Technician, Electrical, Plumbing and Level 4 Construction Site Supervision.
