Authoring tools do not an instructional designer make! This remains one of the videos on Instructional Design Tips I am most pleased to have made. Too often, our industry, and getting started in it, is oversimplified to learning a particular piece of technology. Be it an authoring tool, LMS, or more recently an AI thingy, we must remember that technologies change. They fall in and out of favour and usefulness, so we must avoid tying our value to any one of them. Instead, whether you are just starting in L&D or are a seasoned pro, universally applicable skills remain the best foundation. What skills are you working on right now?
