Laughter. So Much Laughter. We weren’t sure how this episode was going to get edited. Isaac Harvey MBE was in it. That made things… complicated. Bias? Nope, he doesn't get any special treatment. “Are you okay editing yourself?” Christy asked. It’s part of the job now. Spent more time laughing than editing. That’s the thing about the Disability Tangent Podcast. They say it’s about advocacy. Honestly? It’s all about laughing. Doing What It Takes to Get Sworded. Episode out now! https://lnkd.in/eFhNu_UJ P.S. Rocco loses it. #TheDisabilityTangent #DisabilityAwareness #PodcastEditing #Podcast ID: This thumbnail features a black and white headshot of Isaac Harvey MBE, positioned on the left side. The backdrop is a blend of dark teal and maroon, with stylised microphone icons. The podcast title and episode information are prominently displayed in a neon type font. In light teal, "episode14" stands out. Below it, "Isaac Harvey MBE" is written in vibrant orange. In the bottom right corner, a colorful circular logo is visible. Inside the logo, stick figures of diverse abilities surround a central microphone, with the words " disability and tangent" encircling them.

Was it all a dream? "Thank you for all you do." Rise4Disability, Milton Keynes, just last week. First day of the chaos, and already in pain. Can't remember their name… But they said the above about my advocacy. That's why we do this. The realism, the celebrations, the challenges… it's all connected. Filming with Blacks Productions, capturing the essence of the day. On a panel too. Dominic vs. Michael. Aviation vs. Trains. Who had the popcorn? Isaac, Emma, and our amazing host (sorry, I forgot your name!) – we just watched… Okay, not just watched. We shared our lived experiences too. Love their banter! I love passenger assistance... Transreport! And it was so great reconnecting as well as connecting with Carl, Damian, Hannah, Kate, Simon, Jade, Alan, Kerry, Kat, Nick, Sara, Mike, Ria and so many others. (Sorry LinkedIn, we're not spamming!) It totally wiped me out, but worth it? Absolutely. Video coming out in the next couple of weeks. Glasgow next week? Not for us this time, sadly. Maybe next year! Oh, and this picture? Most hotel rooms have a high-rise view, or a brick wall. DoubleTree by Hilton Milton Keynes had other plans. Stadium MK! Don't even watch football, but it was a cool view. #Rise4Disability #Disability #PassengerAssistance #Support #StadiumMK ID: Isaac sits smiling in his electric wheelchair at the top of an accessible viewing platform in Stadium MK, overlooking the vibrant green playing field below. The stadium's vast seating area, curves around the field behind him. A blue jacket is casually over the back of his chair. Isaac's black messenger bag hangs over his shoulder where he supports a smile. The stadium's metal roof can be seen above, framing the cloudy sky. A blue and white directional arrow sticker is attached to the dark floor of the platform, guiding the way. But Isaac being Isaac has decided to face the other way.

Financial services are for everyone. Are they, really? Not when the products and services are inaccessible. Huge chunk of society is excluded. People with disabilities. Isaac, president of Wheels and Wheelchairs, got an MBE from King Charles, even strutted his stuff at London Fashion Week. But can't even access his own finances. "Systems that weren't designed for someone like me." Some fintechs are better than others. But it should be the same across the board. Project Nemo. Kris and Joanne. The power duo. Making a difference. True changemakers. Changemaker Studios. Capturing unique stories of lived experience. Ours is one of them. Amar and Jasmine crafting impact, documenting the reality. Jon. Feet! (What does that have to do with anything? It got a little weird. But he eventually got there. Isaac not Jon... maybe both?) But we do know things are going to change. Amit Ghose, Seema Mistry, Isaac Harvey MBE, Kaye Moors, Diane Lightfoot, Natasha Robinson, Phyllida Swift… Listen to our stories. #Financial #Accessibility #DisabilityInclusion #ProjectNemo #Changemakers #LivedExperience
Financial Services are for everyone. Except they can’t be, when a large section of society is excluded due to inaccessible products and services. Our new film series ‘Disability Inclusion Stories’ aims to help the fintech industry understand and unpack the issue of accessibility. To truly see it. To feel it. Each film tells the unique stories of lived experience, bringing to life day to day challenges in using products and services that were not designed with disability needs in mind. This series trailer was shown on Wednesday at the The Payments Association Pay360 awards, ahead of the event’s inaugural Disability Inclusion Award. As an industry we need to come together to address this pressing issue and take action to deliver inclusion for all. Our first film, ‘Facing Recognition: Amit’s story’ launched 2 weeks ago and ‘Seema’s story’, will be released later this month. You can follow the series here on Linkedin and on our Project Nemo website and YouTube channel. We all need to do our part to build a more equitable industry that truly is for everyone. Please help us to spread these stories and our message across the industry. Follow Project Nemo, share, like and engage with our content and bring it back to your business to spark conversation, and drive action. The inclusive companies today are the market leaders of tomorrow. How can you start making a difference today? Thanks to Changemaker Studios for production of this film and all of those sharing their stories: Amit Ghose, Seema Mistry, Isaac Harvey MBE, Kaye Moors, Diane Lightfoot, Phyllida Swift, Natasha Robinson #FinancialInclusion #DisabilityInclusion #FinTech

‘Hello, and welcome to One Place East News!’ Someone told me they thought it was the real news. Maybe Ian's just that good on camera. Or maybe Tom is a natural filmmaker. Or maybe it's Isaac's editing skills that turn it into a real news bulletin. Green screen, music, stock footage... We think it's all the above! Can't believe this is the 24th edition! Started all the way back in lockdown. Always a lot of fun editing these. Couldn't do it without Margaret, Jodie, and Saifur. Absolute legends. Or stars? 🤩 #OnePlaceEastNews #CommunityNews #VideoEditing #BehindTheScenes #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork

72 hours later. Filming. Filming. And even more filming. Rock Climber (Rock Engineering Limited). Mental Health Awareness. Rise4Disability. Passenger assistance. (Wait, that's four, not three! Just scratching the surface here.) From the moment arriving in Milton Keynes, it's been non-stop. Was it worth it? At the time, yes. Now? Not so much. In considerable pain, both of them. Everyday. So tired this morning. But also… inspired. Will we share every piece of content from this week? Memories versus social media… you will understand. Thank you, Jade and Nick, for making this week possible. And for the friendship. Every time the bond grows stronger. Today, we take it slow (even though three days' worth of catching is to be done!). #Filming #Rise4Disability #PainAndGain #Memories #ThankYou ID: In a naturally lit sunroom, three individuals are engaged in a video recording session. Nick, seated in his motorised wheelchair (would you look at it is not sat in rock climber), sits beside Isaac, who is also in a wheelchair (just in his average wheelchair), at a light-coloured wooden table. A tablet stand is positioned on the table between them, I wonder what they were watching? Benjamin, behind the table holding a gimbal with a camera on it with a microphone, films the interaction. Surprisingly both of them are not smiling or laughing, Jade managed to capture them actually being serious for once. It's that or they were in pain and just wanted to get it over and done with. The sunroom features large windows offering a view of a brick building and greenery outside, while a lime green armchair sits near the corner of the room. Just imagining this is his living room because that's what we were trying to portray.

"Seatbelts, everyone!" "Please let this be a normal field trip." This isn't the Magic School Bus. This is Isaac. On another adventure. With Nick, the Disabled Adventurer (it's in the title!). And Jade, who's pretty awesome. Filming today. Tomorrow. Maybe Thursday too. But it's not all filming. Plans for next year are already being discussed! Seriously? Can we even finish 2024 first? #DisabledAdventurers #Filming #Adventure #PlanningAhead #BusySchedule ID: Nick Wilson, a wheelchair user, is seen filming Isaac Harvey, who is also in a wheelchair, in the Silverstone Museum. Isaac is positioned near the corner of the room, facing away from the camera near a fire extinguisher, and let's not ask why he's in the corner? Honestly it looks a little strange this picture which is why I ended up choosing it. The room features dark grey walls and speckled dark flooring. In the background on the left, there's a vibrant orange and white Formula 1 race car is displayed alongside a large weather and race strategy board displaying the times "14:38" and "15:21" along with sunny, cloudy and rainy forecast symbols. Again, let's not ask questions on why Isaac is in the corner and Nick is filming him… let's not ask that OK?

"We will rise up." Felt like that was the anthem of last year. Stuck in my head. Throwback. A year later. Things are different. Rise4Disability is here! Sandwich completed. Not the edible kind, the place in Kent. Next stop: Milton Keynes. Filming again (with Alice, Blacks Productions!), and on the travel panel… again. Michael, Dominic and would you look at that Emma too! I guess we should mention Isaac as well. Last time, he wasn't at his best. Hoping for a pain-free experience this time. The snoring didn't help either. (Looking at you, Carl!) Will I see you on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024? https://lnkd.in/eV6rctMp #Rise4Disability #TravelPanel #Throwback #Disability ID: A teal promotional graphic with the title "Tackling Obstacles With Travel" along with the date and location, " 22nd of October, Milton Keynes" followed by headshots of four speakers. From left to right, top to bottom, are Isaac Harvey MBE, Michael Connolly, Emma Partlow and Dominic Lund-Conlon. Isaac is black man in a grey collared long-sleeved shirt, he is seated in a wheelchair. Michael is a white man with a reddish-brown goatee and headset microphone around his right ear. He is wearing a black turtleneck shirt. Emma is a white woman with glasses and shoulder-length brown hair. She is wearing a grey blazer over a pink collared shirt. Finally, Dominic is a white man with short dark brown hair, wearing a pinkish collared shirt and a dark tie, and behind him is a blurred photo of a body of water and a bridge. The headshots are each encircled by a gold border.

Scope Awards. What are they? Recognising and celebrating individuals, groups, and organizations who campaign for disability equality, change attitudes, and bring about social change. Changemakers. Last year? Nominated. And a judge. Not my own category. Inclusive Workplace and Purple Pioneer. Tough. Everyone's a winner. But only one can be chosen. It wasn't me or Wheels and Wheelchairs. A year later... "Isaac, will you be a judge again?" Said Louisa. Isaac responded, ‘Hmmmm... okay, let's do it.’ Nominations open: Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 (oops, a little late with this post!). Nominations close: Tuesday, November 19th, 2024. Plenty of time. https://lnkd.in/eztnS7ae Richie Hopson snapped below. This could be you! Next time, better image description on the day, promise. Sam keeps on teasing him. And I am here! 😂 The redemption arc begins. #ScopeAwards #Judge #Disability #DisabilityAwareness ID: Seven individuals, a mix of standing and wheelchair users, pose against a vibrant purple backdrop at this year's Scope Awards 2024. Two men stand at the back: one on the left with short light brown hair wears a light gray blazer, and the other, with darker hair and a beard, wearing a navy suit and black tie. A woman stands between them, wearing glasses and a light blue cardigan over a white collared shirt and long white skirt. In the front row, three individuals use wheelchairs: a man in a dark suit and colourful tie, a woman in a striking red dress with a gray cardigan and of course the middle being the main man himself who wears a dark suit with no tie. All wear cheerful expressions, some with small pin badges. The backdrop prominently displays the Scope logo — featuring a stylized "equals" sign — and the text "Equality for disabled people," along with "Scope Disability Equality Awards."
